Re: Most Underated Baseball Games of All Time

I'm gonna have to second Little League Baseball on NES. The game didn't get the attention it deserved because it was so similar to Baseball Stars, but god was it fun. Actually, it still is. I play it every now and then to this day.

Another underrated one would have to be the first Ken Griffey Jr. game on SNES. The gameplay was so simple, and even though it was really arcadey, it was a blast. Because the games could be played so quickly, I would often play 5 or 6 games in a row. I loved how the fielding was so easy and responsive. Turning double plays were quick and smooth as silk, and the fact that they varied the arm strength of the fielders was a great touch. I loved playing as Montreal, and I can't tell you how many times I gunned baserunners from right field with Larry Walker.

      Man, some great memories....

Great thread. Interplay Sports Baseball 2000 for the PSX.

It was the sequel to VR Baseball 99. ISBB 2000 was a great, overlooked game.

        Take care,

Man, you brought back some memories. Bases Loaded was great. Especially when you hit a home run and could see the pitcher's reaction on the "jumbo-tron". You could even rush the pitcher and fight if he hit you. I agree. This game was a classic. A real classic

Man bdoughty....us Lubbock guys must think alike. Little League and Dusty Diamonds are two of my favorites of all time. Also, the VR series on the playstation was a diamond in the rough (no pun intended). I wish Interact would have tried it one more time. They had a good product on their hands.

You know, now that I think about it, one thing I liked so much about VR and Dusty Diamonds is the fact that they have TEXTURE MAPPED facades, buildings, walls, etc.... When you hit a homer, it actually hit something. I miss this feature greatly. Plaease, somebody bring it back. I want to break something

The original RBI Baseball for NES. What a great drinking game! :-)
The only downside was that unlike the arcade version, it didn't have all-time players on the teams.

Re: Most Underated Baseball Games of All Time

Bases Loaded is really bringing back memories. I remember however, how when I clinched the season ended and there was an celebratory animation scene. I liked the gameplay though. I thought it was fairly on target. I remember those tough outs people are mentioning. Also the fights.

Baseball stars-- the first game I saw that tracked attendance. Remember raising your charisma so you would get more fans? I didnt like how much of a homerun fest it was though. One thing I did like was, remember how if you hit a homerun it would give you perspective of how big the field is and how far the HR by the way it followed it. I remember the pop fly homeruns and how dramatic they were because of the way it followed the ball. I also liked how the fielding gameplay worked. Remember the diving stops up the middle?

I also liked the game on the Genesis out around 90 where the wind factored into the game. I remember how hard it was to face the A's. I thought this was very good too.

I cant comment on some of the games because I had the Atari, Nintendo, Genesis, PS, PS2 and now Xbox

I used to love Front Page Sports Baseball for the PC... that was a fun fun game.

It was a shame that Sierra shelved it... it would have done pretty well on a console.

All I remember about FPS Baseball is the evil windows and constantly hitting foul balls.

Weren't the stands totally empty as well?

Guys, how could you forget about Bay, who hit right before or after paste?

He was a beast as well.
