The Yankees are an old team and age has a way of catching up with you, ask the Giants. The Giants saw most of their aging players spend parts of last season on the DL, the Yankees already have had Sheffield and Matsui miss workouts and Carl Pavano may start the year on the shelf.

Much of the Red Sox success does rest on the ankle of Curt Schilling, but the as has been pointed out the Sox have some depth in their rotation, they also have some youth which could play a big part for them, especially in september.

The Yankees and Red Sox have to hope the old saying "youth is wasted on the young" is true because the Toronto Blue Jays have a relatively young team that could challenge the old timers. the oldest player on the Blue Jays roster is Pete Walker (36), they have only one starting pitcher over 30 (Ted Lilly) and Shea Hillenbrand and Bengie Molina are the only every day players over 30. The X-factor in all of this is Roy Halladay, if Halladay is healthy the Jays stand a chance of competing for the long haul, if not, then it will be another long season for Jays fans.

The Red Sox may once again be Lemmon to the Yankees Matthau. But in the end the division will come down who has the Grumpier Old Men.

Nice Article, man. Fair and Biased!

You've inspired me to write my own:

    NEWS FLASH!

YANKEE FANS CONTINUE TO HAVE HEADS UP A**ES!

After countless years of having their heads hopelessly lodged in their anal cavity, many wonder how Yankee fans still survive without being able to make normal bodily functions. The answer lies in what they eat, their own feces, which gets regurgitated and cycled through their entire body over and over again in a seemingly endless and torturous cycle. This of course helps to explain both the stench, and the unbelievable BS that comes out of their mouths.

The real story here, of course, is that they continue to have a loud enough voice to scream their BS loud enough to stretch across the entire country, all the meanwhile they have their heads indelibly stuck up their a**es.

This is truely a talented feat. Even more talented than the entire Yankees organization, perhaps?

Maybe if the Yankees would put some of their fans on the team roster, they could BS their opponents to death. Some say the players currently on the team do a fine enough job of that right now.

Unfortunately, those who said that could not be accurately quoted, because their heads were also conveniently up their a**es.

NOTE -- The above is meant for laughs and giggles, not to be a serious attack on anyone or any team. I believe I've stated above that I actually approve of their team, if that is possible of me to do, this year. I wrote this a little while ago, and C&Ped it here. Of course, I altered some of the language so as not to break any rules.

Of course I'm sure someone will still feel threatened or upset by this, which means I'm guaranteeing putting myself in trouble here, but I just felt like posting it after that "article format" I saw of what was otherwise just an opinion. No offense, rsox, I think you make some valid points. The problem is that it's faulty in the same way every Michael Moore documentary is faulty. You make everything seem 20 times worse than it really is by highlighting what you want to and leaving out what you don't like. That's not really fair, is it? That's why I kinda joked about your post.

Every single team in every single sport has "fans" that fit that description.

Re: FOXSports predicts: Yanks for wildcard

Right now I don't trust anyone in the Yankees rotation to make 30 starts this year. For that reason alone, I cannot say they'll win this division easily. Granted I won't pick against them (as I wouldn't with the Braves) but I don't know if I would say they are better on paper than the Jays and Red Sox.

What about Halladay and Burnett?? i would take those 2 over the best 2 sox pitchers or yankee pitchers. And yes...even Halladay has questions around his health but not as much as any of those other top guys.

Halladay yes, Burnett no. I definitely see the Jays being in the hunt, but I think whoever is better between the Red Sox and Yankees will win the division.

Keep sleeping on the Jays and when they surprise people this year I'll be able to say "we told you so".

Not sleeping on the Jays at all. I said they'll be in the hunt, I just don't think they'll win the division. If that's sleeping on them then...

LOL I know I just want to keep up the underdog image as it seems the Jays are everyone's sexy pick this year.
