As far as Bernie, a lot of people have the misconception of players on the 'A few more solid season and they're in' or 'Either Close and no cigar OR still got a ways to go' list. These are POTENIAL...I repeat POTENIAL HOF. Bernie still has some ways to go but he can't be a Yankee to do it. HOF right now? Nope. But he has a shot at it.

Albert only needs a couple more years at his breakneck pace to be HOF worthy, IMO.

      The guy is just insane.

Eh? Sosa does NOT deserve to be in the Hall of Fame. I'm not saying that Barry Bonds does (even though he does), but Sosa should not be inducted. Name any other good telling number other than 586, which IMO isn't that outstanding to me when hearing that he did it.

Averaging almost 61 homers over four straight seasons sounds good enough to me.

And this thread has probably given me the most laughs I've had all day. Seeing some of these names in a "HOF worthy" thread is just classic.

              Fixed.

And, I probably haven't been heard much with all of my crazy talk, but I knew that they were just "lucky". What I mean by "lucky" is that what Sosa was last year is what I expected him to be all along. I believe that he is not even a 50 HR guy. Just because he got them doesn't mean he is that kind of hitter, if that makes sense.

Very true. There is a huge difference between a Hall of Famer and just a great player. I mean Brian Giles? Jamie Moyer? Andruw Jones? The list has some good players, but the only way for them to get in the Hall of Fame is to buy a ticket.

seriously, do you just troll every thread and make dumb comments in every one?

At any rate, as a lifelong Mariners fan Ken Griffey Jr. has to be a sure fire 1st ballot. Its too bad that he's had so many injuries lately or people wouldn't even be talking about Bonds breaking Aaron's record, it'd be Griff.

Sosa, Bonds, maybe even McGwire are not locks as first ballott HOF's because of the shadow of steroids looming behind them. Because of this, the door could open for players we may not think of as HOF's like Biggio (my choice), Jeff Kent and Even Bernie Williams.
There is a chance we could see Mark Grace the Hall Of Famer before we see Sammy Sosa the Hall Of Famer.

                      Nice try. But no.

                      1998: 66 homers
                      1999: 63 homers
                      2000: 50 homers
                      2001: 64 homers

That's 243 homeruns over four seasons. Guess what that averages out to over the four year span. Right: 60.75 homers per season.

Good job, Blzer. Next time you want to be a smartass, get your facts straight.

Frank Thomas - not a 1st ballot hall of famer because of his terrible defense. Also, he needs 500 homeruns to get in because he's a 1B. Either way he gets in eventually without a doubt.
No he doesn't. In the 90's he was a top 2-3 hitter. He's done thing that only he and Ted Williams have done. He's a 1st ballot guy, guaranteed.

Hey, watch it. I thought that there was a span that he had "Three consecutive 60 HR seasons", and that gave my assumption that you meant that.

Rivera will always get the knod over Hoffy because of all his playing time in October. It's a shame that Trev never got as many chances in the postseason like Mariano has, it also doesn't help when his one chance in the World Series he blew the save. That aside, his regular season numbers are pretty much enough to get him in easy.
