Big gamble they're making on a player who's had only one full season under his belt. Don't get me wrong, I think this kid is solid BUT normally extensions like this would go to guys who's done this at least 2-3 years.

It's more than likely to keep his arbitration years down a bit. Still a risk because if he did get injured, his ARB salary wouldn't be too high but worth the risk IMO.

They also hold an option for 2012, not bad.

good deal for us.... Now we have to lock up the rest... I know Sabathia and Sizemore are locked up but I forget which of the two out of Hafner and Martinez are already locked up. Also I'd like to see us resign Marte to a long term deal.

victor is locked up, the sizemore signing was a great move IMO by the indians , is kid is dead on at the plate and has great speed

Let's not jump up and down and celebrate this extension. Just look at what happened with the Jays and Eric Hinske.

I don't see that happening with Sizemore but I believe "caution" should be the word of the day for Indians fans.

Hopefully he doesn't stop running now that he received a long new contract. I drafted him as a 5 category fantasy player. Does anybody see him having a Beltran-esque year?

Hopefully he doesn't stop running now that he received a long new contract. I drafted him as a 5 category fantasy player. Does anybody see him having a Beltran-esque year?

I think he's got a legit shot at a 30-30 season with about a .280 batting average to go with it. If he gets tougher on lefties and walks more he'll be too much of a threat to hit lead-off before long.

yes, I love this guy. Its not often you can find a leadoff guy that can hit that many homers. Not only on the field, but he sells merchandise, those Mrs. Sizemore Jerseys sell like hotcakes with the ladies.
