    Phillips traded by Indians

The official website of the Cleveland Guardians with the most up-to-date information on news, tickets, schedule, stadium, roster, rumors, scores, and stats.

Well he certainly never lived up to the billing he got when we traded for him. I wish him the best... unless he keeps his attitude up, then I hope he fails just as bad as he did for us.

Judging by this quote I have a feeling he still hasn't learned...

"That should have been me," Phillips said, referring to Sizemore's deal.

All the talent in the world, but a world class jackass... good riddance.

We have a Jason Michaels in left field but we don't have a Jason Phillips.

Jason Phillips is a c/1b for the Blue Jays (too many Jasons to keep track of ).. well for Brandon to say that he shoulda gotten that deal, well, uhm.. wow.. feel sorry for the team he is going to.. wait - he doesnt know what team that is??? thats kinda either crazy, or the team really wanted him gone..

I wonder where he is headed? He still could be very goot at the MLB level.

he wished he would've gotten sizemore's money , but that would mean as has as much talent as sizemore , but we all know thats not the case. Good Luck Brandon Phillips and keep up that winning attitude

? You definitely took that out of context. What about...

"I respect them for their decision," he said. "I tried to show the Indians I was ready to play, but they thought otherwise. You've got to take it how it is and move on."

He's not mad at Sizemore. Phillips just wanted an opportunity and the Indians only gave him one. He actually took it very well.

he had his chance in 2003 when the 2nd base job was his to win and he didnt put up very good numbers , so why wait on a player that is at best triple caliber player when the indians havent been very loaded at 2nd base in mnay years , yes we had robby alomar , but that when his career was winding down.

here's brandon's stats for 2003 so you can tell me if im off- base by saying he wasted his chance to prove himself to the indians

Yeah, I don't think he was saying that he should have gotten that money, I think he feels that he should have been in a position to get that kinda money, but it didn't work out. I actually feel bad for him, but oh well. I wish him well

He's obviously got some talent. Change of scenery might be the best thing to happen to him.

Some Clarification: the Indians have not traded Phillips, yet. GM Mark Shapiro said on thursday "We'll be able to trade him", "Definitly". Shapiro also said that the Indians will designate Phillips for assignment on saturday, after which the Indians will have 10 days to trade or release Phillips.

The gamble of course is by designating him for assignment it will be possible for a team to claim Phillips off of waivers, which would mean that the Indians would get nothing in return.

True. But, if there's a *good* team that wants him they'll trade for him. The only way the Indians will lose out on this gamble is if a *good* team has no interest and decides to stick with their own.
