I just saw this on ESPN's bottom line. It said he is getting a nerve removed from his pitching elbow, and he is listed as being out indefinitely.
Bad news for Dodger fans.Comment

Well he should be pretty comfortable for the rest of his natural life with that paycheck so I'm not shedding any tears. Still sucks for him that he can't continue his passion.Comment

Re: Gagne Out Indefinitely
This one kid in my league drafted both Papelbon and Baez, in addition to Valverde and Isringhausen. In one day, he went from having mediocre closers and wasted roster spots, to now having by far the best group of closers in our league. Damn it. My group of Nathan, Turnbow, Miceli, and Weathers looks like crap comapred to him.Comment

Closer that throw that hard don't last too long, Some last a little longer than most, but that is to bad. He was awesome for the Dodgers!Comment

Re: Gagne Out Indefinitely
I don't even think he was that. He hurt his arm really bad when he hurt his knee that one season. He was trying to over compensate for the bad knee and was throwing too hard. If he never hurt his knee, I don't think he'd have this issue.Comment

Re: Gagne Out Indefinitely
Makes you appreciate the longetivity of some closers out there i.e. Mariano Rivera, Billy Wagner, Trevor Hoffman, etc. I really didn't think Eric Gagne would be going through a series of problems since the first time he missed time due to injury.
I will be surprised if he comes back the closer he was who saved 80 something straight games while striking out 100. His velocity has dipped dramatically and he's got himself some serious injuries. I know I dislike the Dodgers, but even I hate major injuries and the Dodgers already have quite a few:
Nomar Garciaparra
Jayson Werth
Kenny Lofton
Cesar Izturis
Now add Eric Gagne.Comment

Re: Gagne Out Indefinitely
The Dodgers high hopes are already diminishing this season. It makes me wonder... how long is JD Drew going to stay healthy? I almost feel bad for them, but then again not really. Hopefully this season my Dodger friends will have fun watching the Giants roll over them
