    The Pleasures of Variety!

With TIME and MONEY getting tight, there is room for only one game per sport for me. I have learned valuable lessons through purchases over the years and have finally figured out how to find the game for ME. From posting here over the years, you guys have been a huge help. Sometimes you have to sift through the fanboyism, but when you do, key questions are answered. With that being said, do the following.

    1. Make a list of those things in a game that is important to YOU.
    2. Rent first to get a feel for all of those items in your list
    3. Make a confident purchase and stay the hell away from the threads thereafter.

This Spring will be great for baseball!
Things are looking up for sports gaming!

Well I will do my part by playing numerous games with Baseballguru online on XBL with ASB 2004. If he is online playing he can't post

My public service to the boards.

When you play him online he not anywhere as annoying as you would imagine from his posts. We had some reall fun hockey games (altough he has a habbit of attempting cheap shots on your players right after penalties are called). Speaking of XBL Guru did you pick up College Basketball 2K3? We need to get some New Mexico - OU games in.

Cheap shots eh? I was just skating over to the bench and your guy kept getting in my way.

I really am a nice guy, and I'm not sure this thread is 100% directed at just me, but even if it is, that's ok. I come to OS to have fun.... anyone who gets all bent outta shape by my like or dislike of a certain game is playing right into my hands. You'd think after the past couple of years people would learn that... there's always newbies to haze though, along with the vets who keep sticking their finger in the socket.

I did get CB2K3, but haven't had much time to play it. Maybe tomorrow night, since there's no more Sopranos.

BaseballGuru you are the man. You are the man. I get a kick out of your posts. Especially when you try to point out the evils of all baseball games that don't have the words All Star in the title.

Never said it was perfect, just that it is more realistic and fun than the competition. Snaz, you're new here, so don't act like you know me. You don't know sh*t.

No doubt. Just when you have BaseballGuru pinned down for a Bobby Cox-hating, High Heat-insulting, flame-fanning cocky ASB fanboy with an inferiority complex, he surprises you. Or at least he will. Eventually. I think.

                Re: The Pleasures of Variety!

Guru, 1rst off lets get something straight. I've been posting here,or reading posts on this forum for at least 2 years.
Instead of using abrasive insults, why don't you explain just how its more realistic than HH,or even WSB. For every bug you bring up, I'll match yours.Go take a look at Game Rankings and tell me which one was rated higher. Hell, go to the poll on this forum, and tell me what game is more anticipated, HH or ASB?
If you like ASB thats fine. I've got the game too,and its a decent game, with some tweaking will be a good game. But it doesn't make a pimple on High Heat's a$$ when it come to gameplay. And if you think it does, then your the one that doesn't know sh!t.

                    Re: The Pleasures of Variety!

Having just viewed the new movies of High Heat on Gamespot, I think they pretty well speak for themselves. Same floaty pitches, same twitchy players, same level of mediocrity.

I can tell you exactly why High Heat is rated higher than ASB... it's a game that appeals to the lowest-common denominator.... kind of like the movie "Dude, Where's My Car". Mind-numbing entertainment. You can pick it up, put it in your PS2, and be good at it within 5 minutes. It is a watered-down version of baseball, meant to be easy and fun for players ranging in age from 3 to 63.

I do agree with you about High Heat being a giant a$$, at least.

fatpitcher, while I'm flattered by your stalking me from thread to thread with your witty comments, I'm really starting to wonder about you. The way you make mental notes about everything I say, go from thread to thread trying to get the last word in on a conversation that happened 6 months ago.... you're starting to paint a scary picture of yourself. You won't be happy until you're dressed in drag, smearing lipstick all over your face, with me in the bottom of a pit in your basement. "It rubs the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again." Scary.

I wouldn't call it "stalking." It's more like pointing and staring at the paranoid old homeless man who's always ranting and raving about things that never even happened.

The really scary part is that I actually agree with you about a lot of things.

Now that is scary... and it's not polite to stare.

I don't mind being the raving lunatic who says what everyone else is thinking... it's all part o' my fun here on OS.
