Have the Mets changed their colors...?

to include black? I remember when black became popular back in the day when NWA was popular and wearing Raiders gear...soon after that the White Sox changed to black. But that was 15 years ago. So why are the Mets becoming so devoted to the color black at this stage in this trend (if it is even a trend still)? Are their colors not still blue & orange? Furthermore its better that teams distinguish themselves and becoming the 9th team to wear navy or black does anything but that. Is anyone else bothered by the lack of aesthetics with the Mets' current trend-setting uniforms?

Black and orange go together, so maybe that's why?

    I really don't know.

Yeah but actually blue and orange go together moreso than black and orange. Seriously, blue and orange are opposite on the color wheel. Opposite colors yield greater contrast and vibrancy. I agree though that black and orange is also good but its also taken and, like I said, its better to be distinct.

i believe they had the black coloring in their jerseys for a couple of years.. the batting helmets were changed this year... the all- black top is their alt. jersey which they have have for several years.

on a side note - i dont mind it because it also reminds me of my favorite football team... the RAAIIIDDERS.. (you know i had to say that by looking at that Broncs avatar )

Uh, haven't the Mets been wearing black trimmed unis, along with their black tops and black hats, since at least '98? Hell, black has been one of their primary colors for almost a decade now, it would appear.

Maybe it's because they want the Halloween colors during the season because they know they won't be playing during the month of Halloween?

            Just a hunch.

True but it seems they have been wearing black with greater frequency. In 98 it was truly an alternate uniform --as in rarely worn. Every time I see a Mets highlight now, it seems they are wearing the black uniforms. Actually there orange batting practice jerseys were a lot better than anything they have with black in it.

                  It's the Mets.

They bang out more uniforms than Madonna in the 80's.

Actually I read somewhere that they want to eliminate the black altogether by '08. I could be wrong tho.

I do like the new blended in multi-colour helmets tho. It's very unique.

Anything is better than that orange. I hate that orange and I don't think it mixes well with the blue or black.

Well the orange has been around since their inception and is a very integral part of the team's identity as the orange represents the Giants, blue represents the Dodgers and the rest is the Mets.

Oh and while we're on Mets uniform stuff i'd like to see this brought back:

I know it's really plain but I thought it looked great with the white uniform.

Again, orange is opposite blue on the color wheel so orange is one of, if not the, best color to go with blue.

I love the orange/royal blue, the Knicks and Mets both have great looking uni's, IMO.

And the Mets have definately been wearing the black alternates for close to, if not more, than a decade.

I thought it was against the dress code for teams to have white hats?

Same with players not being allowed to wear white long sleeved undershirts.
