Just hit a homerun in his first AB of the year, the 3rd straight year he's done that. This one an inside-the-parker...

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Ken Griffey Jr. is the only other player to accomplish the feat ('96, '97, '98). I may be off on those years... Matsui is obviously the only player to do it the first 3 seasons of their career.

And in the same game, Julio Franco became the oldest player to hit a homerun.

Just about anything Julio Franco does this season will make him the oldest player to do it.

Pretty much so, but he'd have to play through his 53rd year if he wants to be the oldest man to have a hit in MLB. That honour goes to Minnie Minoso who had a base hit at that age.

Actually I think Franco is really in his early 50s anyways.
