    Julio Franco

Wow, this guy is amazing. 48 and still hitting HR, that is awesome. Someone said he wakes up at 3 am an drinks a protein shake, and his built like a rock. How the heck does he stay in that kind of shape at that age?

Me too, which makes his achievement all the more mind boggling. The guy looks like he could be a serviceable player for at least 2 more years!

No, he was born in 58, but still at 48 and still hitting like that, that is great.

I think most people are skeptical about that birth date tho. I've heard for years that Franco is a few years older then his official birthdate.

I like him ever since is was on Texas. That batting stance of his with his bat. I was always amaze how some one could generate power that way, but it work for him I think he won a batting title. I remember when this video game call clutch hitter, I think for the Genesis, had his stance dead on!

Yeah, if he wasn't born here, chances are he is older! Good point.

                    Re: Julio Franco

The Braves media guide had Franco listed as 44-a couple of years in a row, so to say how old Julio really is...is anyones guess. Franco has said numerous times that he wants to play until he is 50, retire, and go in to coaching down in the minors.

Whats amazing about Franco is that he turns 48 in august, he was out of Major League Baseball when he turned 40 back in 1998, played in 1 game with the Devil Rays in 1999 and was out of Baseball again until 2001. How many players get the chance to comeback at 43 years old and be as good, if not better than he was 20 years ago?... . No matter how old Julio really is if he can continue to be one of the leagues best PH while occasionally filling in at 1B teams will continue to sign him.

He'd probably have 3,000+ hits if not for those years he was out of the majors playing in Mexico and Korea...

He's really 65. He should pass Aarons HR record by the time he's 80. Then he will retire.

I heard he wants to break Wilt Chamberlain's 20,000 hit up club.
