What the heck is goin on with Ty Wigginton?

This guy has never been much of a power guy, but he already has 8 HR's this year. Last year the Pirates barely even gave the guy a chance to play in the majors. They played Freddy Sanchez oer this guy after they traded Randa. He must have gotten on the juice or HGH. I just don't get it.

Don't know. He was terrible in 2004 and 2005 for the Pirates. He even got sent down to AAA in 2005 because he looked completely lost in the field and at the plate.

Freddy Sanchez did a great job at 3B last year. Not sure why the Pirates traded for Randa this year. Randa's no better than Sanchez.

i felt bad for ty after we delt him to the bucs. he played a solid 3rd base for us but he was odd man out b/c of david wright.

he looked lost etc playing for the bucos, has he found his groove in tampa? we shall see lol

Joe Randa supposedly has more power than Freddy Sanchez, but even if he does Sanchez is a better player than Randa, who must be 35 by now.

Stuff like this happens every season, some scrub plays out of his head and some great player sucks the big one. I don't see Wiggintons production lasting past April to Mid-May. Remember, baseball is a marathon, not a race.

Randa is 36 now. He's looked very poor so far. I'm not sure how much more power he's got at this stage in his career. Seems like a pointless 1 year rental though. Typical Pirates of course.

To be fair, Wigginton still looks lost in the field. As 007Soxs said stuff like this happens every year. Every player usually has one year where everything comes together for him. The key is for teams (Dodgers) not to over pay said player (Devon White) the following offseason ('98)

Well he did hit 21 homeruns last year between AAA and the majors...so it's not like he doesn't have any power but this early streak is still surprising.
