    Wow....Brandon Phillips

I thought this kid was just another minor league star turned big league flop, but he is really getting it done for Cinci.

    .372/3 HR/17 RBI in 12 games

After his time in Cleveland, I never thought I would see him hitting like he has been.

Cinci's GM finally got something right.

    Re: Wow....Brandon Phillips

I was skeptical when they signed him because they seemed at the time to have too many secondbasemen, but he's turned out to be a great signing. Krivsky said something in the paper that I had forgotten about in that they may have a lot of guys that can play 2B, but they all can play elsewhere too (Aurilia - 1B,2B,SS,3B; Freel - 2B,OF,3B; Womack - 2B,OF). They're going to keep playing him while he stays hot. Womack won't play much at all now. Phillips is only 24. Maybe he just needed a wakeup call. Kid has tons of talent.

Well, we have a good GM now. Wayne Krivsky, was the assistant to the Twins GM (who, as you can tell, has done a pretty good job in Minnesota). I think you were referencing Dan O'Brien.

That woudl be true if Dan O'Brien was still the GM, but he's not. Wayne Krivsky was hired as the GM a few weeks before spring training and has done pretty well so far with Bronson Arroyo and Brandon Phillips.

I heard on the radio today that Phillips admitted that part of the reason he failed so miserably with Cleveland was emotional problems of his own creation. He says he's cleared all that stuff up now and he's ready to play. Guess he's seriously out to prove he's got the stuff.

Very good. He was part of the Colon deal that one season along with Jake Westbrook.

actually it was colon for phillips, sizemore and lee... so either way the deal still turned out pretty good for us. Would have been the biggest steal ever if Phillips had panned out for the Tribe but it just wasn't meant to be.

Uhh thanks for reminding me. Omar Minaya ripped our farm system bare. Now the Nats have one of the worst one's in the league.

I always thought he had potential, I saw him a few times when Buffalo played the Knights (AAA ball) and he was my favorite Indian minor leager...I was hoping he woud pan out for the Indians too

Yes, that's right. My bad. Just looked it all up. The Expos got Westbrook from the Rockies for Mike Lansing, traded him to the Yankees for Irabu, and they in-turn traded him to the Tribe for Ricky Ledee and two other players. I was thinking of Cliff Lee in that Colon deal.

I had a feeling Phillips was going to do this. I liked him just never seemed to stick in the bigs.It is early but I'm glad he is enjoying success so far.
