I don't think so. But if someone were to, I think he's definitely a top candidate.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers

Re: I think Phat Albert will hit 74+...
Well, I guess someone had to say it.
I don't think he will. Not because he doesn't have the ability to do so, but because he likely won't see the pitches to be able to do it. If the Cards are locked up in a pennant race like it appears they may be, he could get the Bonds treatment for about a month and a half at the end of the year.Comment

Originally posted by posterI agree with this. I still cannot believe he gets the pitches to hit that he does. I know he is surrounded by good players, but let them beat you not Al. He will probably hit around 60 IMO.
He's definitely a Top 3 hitter though and has the potential. But I mean, it's the homerun record, it can't be broken so soon after it was set. But I'm sure that's what people were saying about Mcgwire's mark...NHL - Philadelphia Flyers

Please tell me how this is different than what Bonds went through in 2001?
Pujols has never had to deal with the treatment that Bonds has.Comment

Re: I think Phat Albert will hit 74+...
I think he'll hit somewhere in the 50s.
I've already heard crazy theories that MLB has juiced the balls this year so that HR production doesn't fall off because everyone is "off" of steroids.
Pujols is the best thing to happen to baseball tho. He's a great ambassador to the game and from everything i've heard, he's very accessible to the fans.
I wish him luck if he does indeed make a run for the record. If he hits 61+ i'll consider him the true single season HR king.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

The guy could easily be on steroids too.Comment

It's one thing to have one of the biggest jerks in the game busted but to have a modern day hero being busted on roids will REALLY get peoples attention and I wouldn't be shocked if the US senate implements draconion measures such as having WADA administer Olympic level testing on MLB players.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: I think Phat Albert will hit 74+...
Originally posted by BGarrett7The approach to players who can single-handedly take over the game has changed a lot since Barry's assault on Mac in '01. Yes, Barry was walked a recrd-setting 177 times that season, but it wasn't the astronomical number that he put up the next year or in '04. Right now, Albert is already on pace for a top-ten all-time number of free passes, but it is still April. Teams are going to be a lot more willing to pitch to someone in the early part of the season -- unless they are the morons who continue to walk around Bonds, that is. But, once August and September roll around, if the NL Central race is still close, and the way it is shaping up, could include more than just two teams, he will start being walked two, three, four times a game depending on the situations where he comes up. Especially if teams are trailing the Cards down the stretch. It's a lot easier to pitch to someone if you are ahead of them in the standings than it is if you are trying to make up ground.Comment

Pujols was big when he came into the league. Despite the fact that he is a big guy his body looks nothing like Bonds, Canseco, or McGwire's. Pujol's body has a much more natural look to it.
It is sad that everyone gets questioned now.***My Teams***

Re: I think Phat Albert will hit 74+...
lets not start another steroid conspiracy thread. It seems that no matter what anyone in baseball accomplishes, there is always someone there to say that,"well he must be on steroids or something".
For anyone who ever wondered what the big deal about players using steroids was, there's your answer.
I am predicting that Pujols will hit 55-60.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(
