    Albert Pujols

I think it's still too early to talk about him getting near the single-season home run record, but he has been flat out amazing at the plate this season.

I think he'll easily get up to 50 home runs, but I'm rooting for him to hit more than sixty. Now I know he's a clean player an dhe's very talented at the plate, but it's pity with all these steroids talk that some people (the casual fans IMO) will be skeptical about Pujols if he gets at least 57 home runs.

Do you think people will be bringing that up if he does get near 60? I personally think so and it such as shame how he could accomplish that, but people won't give him the credit because of the recent players who reached that plateau.

The man is the best hitter in the game without question. Unfortunately, the players have created a cloud of suspicion around the game and it's their own fault. Collectively, they resisted drug testing so I can't really feel sorry for guys if they're accused of being cheaters. With that said, I don't know if Pujols is a cheater but I like to believe he isn't since he hasn't been linked to anything. If he hits fewer than 60 this year I'll be surprised, I don't know about the single season mark though.

Best player in the game. I hope he gets the record so at least a clean player will hold it.

Even if he hits 60 Pujols already earned my respect. He could be like Hank Aaron and never have a sudden spike in his power numbers.

If people keep pitching to him, he has a fantastic shot to win the Triple Crown this season. He leads the league in HR and RBI, and ranks around #8 in AVG right now. With Bonds out of the picture and a good lineup around him, the HRs and RBIs will be there. And his eye is definitely good enough to lead the league in hitting.

Of course, I have no idea why people keep pitching to him....

            Re: Albert Pujols

Two things need to happen for Pujols to challenge the single season mark: 1) David Eckstein and John Rodriguez keep getting on base in front of him...and 2) Scott Rolen and Jim Edmonds stay healthy behind him.

On PTI today Kornheiser and Wilbon were discussing this and Tony Kornheiser kept saying you have to walk him because if you pitch to him you're probably down 2-0 in the first inning, Wilbon's position was for the pitchers to be men and pitch to him and try and get him out.

Don't people like Kornheiser and others in the media who keep saying they don't understand why teams keep pitching to Albert realize that if you pitch to him you may be down 2-0 in the first inning, but if you pitch around him with Rolen and Edmonds behind him you may find yourself down 3 or 4-0 in the first inning instead?.

Pitch to him so we can have a Home Run leader we can respect and be proud of.

You ruined what otherwise was an excellent post by throwing a pot-shot in at the end, imho.

Pujols is a freak of nature. Almost an honor to watch him if you know what I mean. He'll probably go down with the list of players that you hear all the old guys talk about in the "I got to watch him play" list.

I'll be pulling for him to break the record.

I hope to God that he's clean because not only is he one of the best guys around he's also being viewed as the greatest asset to MLB in terms of being good PR.

I find it funny that people automatically think he's clean. I personally like him, but don't trust any of today's players.
