    quick pujols question

In the SI article about him, they said first base was his 5th major league position, I know he played both corner outfield spots and third base before first, but what is the other position? Was he a catcher?

He played two innings of a game at short in '02.

    Here's the breakdown:

    1B - 434 games
    LF - 269 games
    3B - 96 games
    RF - 40 games
    SS - 1 game

It's absolutely nuts how all over the place he was his rookie year -- 55 games at third, 43 at first, and 39 each in left and right.

If it wasn't for a bad elbow during the 2003 season he may still be playing in LF. Wonder if Tino would still be at First...

With the money he was making and the numbers he put up, not a chance. Remember the Cardinals paid 6 of the 7 million when they gave him to Tampa Bay.

So how old is he. He was saying he is 26, but some believe is older. He probably is. I can see why it matter when he was starting out to be younger, but why would he keep lying, maybe he is 26!

            Funny Pujols story...

So, before Pujols was anything to anyone, the Seattle Mariners played an exhibition/spring game against the Cardinals in Seattle. Well, Pujols was starting in left field that game, and our seats were right next to him. So the entire game we were just yelling at him. "You suck Pujols!", "Boooooo Pujols!" "Cardinals suck Pujols! Go Mariners!". Etc. (Probably had too much to drink).

This was his rookie season. We had no idea he would be great, and neither did anyone else.

            I somewhat feel responsible....

All I know is, his situation is not like many Latin players who come here after they are signed or drafted. He moved to a suburb of Kansas City, MO (Independance or Truman, I think) when he was in highschool. He then went to community college in the same area.

Basically, could he be lying? I guess. But it would be much more difficult to get away with it (high school registration, college, citizenship, etc.), than for someone who was living in the Dominican (or Cuba, Venezuela, Mexico, etc., etc.) when they were signed and still kept a living residence in that country.

Same thing happened to me with Julius Peppers.... I was sitting behind the UNC bench one game when he was just starting out... I just randomly picked a guy and I saw a guy with the last name Peppers so I decided I'd trash talk him the whole game... well after a few minutes of yelling "hey Peppers you suck!" he turned around and smiled... I didn't get it.... then he went out and got 3 sacks... moral of the story, don't piss off future all-pros or all-stars.

You won't hear me making fun of anyone in person who could beat me up beyond recognition if they are in a bad mood.
