    Good trade for the Diamondbacks.

Julio was incredibly hot when he first came up like four years ago, but he has struggled the past few years. Besides his first few outings this season, he has been very good out of the pen. Lots of strikeouts. Solid righty arm out of the pen. And he is still quite young, like what, 26? 27?

As for El Duque....He too has been striking out a lot of guys this year, but they have been hitting it too. Maybe he will go back to his New York form.

Nice trade for Mets. El Duque is one of my favorite pitchers and it sucks to see him in a Met uniform. Julio stinks so anything you can get for him is good, it makes the Benson trade look better, but still Benson is the better pitcher now and in the future. For all we know El Duque is older than Julio Franco.

        Probably more than ten years.

Pretty good deal for the Mets. Gives them some rotation depth... until Hernandez has to go back on the DL, anyway.

Proven winner! 9th in the NL in Ks. Old as hell. Got to love him in big games.
Won't be last Met's trade for a pitcher. Julio stunk as a Met. I don't think he
lacks talent, just can't handle NYC.

or in Baltimore either - remember he wasnt a great pitcher with them either - he was supposed to be the closer, but could never hold the job because he was wild..

To be fair Julio started out bad but has gotten better. He showed some improvement and might be a nice set-up guy for Arizona. The Mets needed a starter and El Duque provides that and has the bonus of playing in New York.

He'll be a plus also in that he can be a good mentor for Alay Soler, the Cuban pitching prospect... He had a lot to do with helping Jose Contreras settle down, hopefully he'll have the same impact on Soler.
