    Favorite young player to watch?

Since MLB is now attempting to do something about steroids and performance enhancing drugs, we have seen old sluggers retire and an influx of new mashers. Some of the brightest young/rookie players so far, at least to me:

    Hitters:
Ryan Zimmerman, Conor Jackson, Nick Swisher, Matt Kemp, David Wright, Hanley Ramirez, Jonny Gomes, Rickie Weeks, Prince Fielder, Ryan Howard, Alex Rios, Jose Lopez.

    Pitchers:
Francisco Liriano, Jonathan Papelbon, Anthony Reyes, Scott Olsen, Scott Kazmir, Justin Verlander, Wandy Rodriguez, Ian Snell, Jered Weaver.

I'm sure I left a few out, so feel free to add names to each list. It's been a lot of fun so far to watch these young players develop produce. Personally, my favorites to watch so far have been Zimmerman, Swisher, Weeks, Fielder, Reyes, Verlander, and Weaver.

Out of all these guys, which do you see becoming a perennial All-Star and MVP player? I say Zimmerman, Howard, Kazmir and Liriano. What do you guys think?

For pitcher, I'd go with Chris Ray. Hitter, I'm not sure. It would be Nick Markakis if he wasn't struggling so much.

I'm a huge fan of McCann and Mauer because of the pride they take behind the plate. Not many catchers could lead the league in hitting and win a gold glove somewhere down the line. Listening to Smoltz talk about his young catcher and seeing Mauer in action really gets me excited to see how good they can be.

Hah, somehow I forgot to include McCann and Mauer. I wonder if Mauer will remain a catcher throughout his career or if he will switch positions to prolong it like Craig Biggio.

I've never seen anyone faster than Jose Reyes.

In all seriousness, barring injury, Wright might end up in the top 10, maybe 5, third-baseman ever. He's got the skill and most importantly the attitude to play for a long time and at a very high level. You can just tell the guy loves to play.

I have really enjoyed watching Joe Mauer, Francisco Liriano and Justin Morneau has come on strong lately. I wish I have the chance to see more of Papelbon too. He has looked absolutely filthy the few times I have watched him.

                          Pitcher: Jon Paplebon, of course.

Hitter: David Wright, theis guy is a monster at the plate and pretty good defensively as well.
