No link yet. This is what I got from a friend on AIM. They right a wrong, something that should not have been done by sending down Jered. Well not he is being called back up and his big brother is DFA.

The writing was on the wall for months.

Jered is ending Jeff's career, atleast in LA.

Thanksgiving dinner at the Weavers could be interesting this year...lol.

"But most of all, I'm thankful for my little bro Jered, because of him I was released by a major league baseball team, my career spiraled down the drain, my life started to come apart, my wife left me, my kids won't talk to me, and I've developed a drinking habit. I love you Jered! Wanna fight over the drumstick?"

If Russ Ortiz could land with a team after averaging only 4 innings per start than i'm sure Weaver will land somewhere.

The Texas Rangers have been searching everywhere trying to land a starting pitcher. They were interested in Ortiz but he chose Baltimore to reunite with Leo Mazzone. With very little starting pitching available i would not be surprised if the Rangers inquire about Weaver.

According to a report in the Los Angeles Times, Angels GM Bill Stoneman asked the Mets for outfield prospect Lastings Milledge in return for Weaver and was turned down.

Thats what i love about Stoneman and the Angels. They try to dump one of their crappy players and ask for gold in return, yet when they want to trade for someone they won't even listen to offers concerning any of their "prospects". I would love to see them finish in last place.

Re: Jered called up, Jeff DFA

You know, Stoneman and Scioscia were being lionized a couple years ago as geniuses for their philosophy of "manufacturing runs" through productive outs. It worked when they had a team who could hit worth a lick for appreciable average. This year, their squad can't even reach base, so giving up outs might be the dumbest thing to do for a team that is offensively challenged.

I continue to be unimpressed by Stoneman's work as a GM. Has this napping drooling fool made any in-season moves to upgrade the big league club...ever? Have any of their position prospects panned out in the last 4 years? There was so much hype surrounding Dallas McPherson, Casey Kotchman, and Mitch Buchannon, yet none of those guys have done anything.
This past year, their farm system has been quite hyped with Brandon Wood and Howie Kendrick leading the machine. Given that Stoneface never makes any trades for ML talent, or signed no free agents this past off season, young talent are the only chance the team has. I have to think that if those guys **** the bed, then Stoneman's job has to be in jeopardy. Hell, it probably is given how disappointing the 2006 Angels have been.

                        Weaver traded to Cardinals.

Angels get AA outfielder Terry Evans and cash.

Maybe Stoneman thought Isiah Thomas was the Mets' GM, too.

(You know that Thomas would have pulled off the NBA equivalent of that trade. "Zelko Rebraca and a second round pick for Channing Frye? How can I lose?")
