So, I just entered in your formula, and I got a few decimals mostly around the 0.90 area, with two rather major outliers of .47 and 1.19. Exactly what is this? Does it combine Slugging Percentage with Secondary Average and On-Base Percentage or something to that effect?

    Thanks.
    To that effect... almost...

A stat like OPS, includes 2 variables... Slug + On-Base... but... then that means Hits are being counted twice. Hits are a part of Slug, and a part of On-Base. So really my stat is just using slug to a fuller extent.

If walks were added to slug, they would be counted as one total base (you know what they say, and its true... walk is just as good as a hit)... and then you add the steal... because if you steal 2nd, its just as good as the guy who hits doubles. Also, Caught Stealing is tied in, because trying to take a base and getting thrown out, is just as good as the guy who swings for an out.

Remember, with Slugging %, the highest you can bat, is 4.000 (all the bases)... so therefore, with this stat, the highest you can bat is... 4.000.

So when your 12 year olds are hitting around the .900 area, and someone is batting above 1.000... that is definetely the reason why they are 3rd in the state... that is some tremendous batting.

That's a pretty interesting stat. I see you have an abbreviation for it. Do you have an actual name and definition for this statistic? And are you considering this a "percentage" or a "decimal"? (like how SLG and OBP and "decimals", though they're percentages at heart)

You just put way too much stock in SB, to put that with TB is foolish. If a guy gets caught stealing 10 times over the course of the season say 8 from first, and 2 from second, what about the 14 TB's that the player F'ed up from his main total? I like the BB and TB put together, but the SB is just pointless when you put those two together. I guess my question is, what are you mesuring? Jeter had a "ABP" of 380, while Juan Pierre had a 313? If you want to make this stat worth anything, count CS x 3. This stat is like a horrible version of EQA, so you didnt really make it up, EQA: H + TB + 1.5*(BB+HBP) + SB.

Supposed to be a decimal (percentage at heart )

that is not really close to the same thing...

and also... you must have been doing someting wrong... 380 is such a low number for ABP, I really don't think that's how Jeter's doing... in fact he's not...

and it is simply All-Bases, nothing more, nothing less... the stat records what the title tells it to... what are all the bases that a player can rack up by himself? This puts guys like Carl Crawford at a whole new level. Simply finding out an OBP or Slug of a player, will never help Carl Crawford's case for one of the best offensive players in the game today.

This stat also puts guys like Jose Reyes who may not hit too many homeruns at a whole new level. People can't honestly tell me that Reyes hasn't been the best offensive SS this season... but how are you going to prove that with OBP, or Slug?

I can HONESTLY tell you that Reyes hasnt been the offensive SS this season.. The AL has a couple of guys, one named Jeter, the other named Tejada. I can show you how stolen bases do not contribute towards more runs than OBP and SLG do. For you to add in somthing as usless as stolen bases into determining the value of a player but ignore his OBP? Give me a break.

OBP... in which you mean Walks included??? ... uhhhhh....

how can you say i'm IGNORING it?!?!?!? It's a part of the stat for goodness sakes...

Total Bases + WALKS + Steals - Caught Stealing / At Bats + WALKS

Because you value a stolen base the same way you value a hit.

well its the same thing when you look at this way... and so Slug% is guilty of this so called Crime as well...

Getting a stolen base... is only possible after a hit or a walk...

so really... a stolen base in my stat (with that hit or walk) is valued as a double (because of that extra base that hitter is taking with a regular basehit)...

When doubles are recorded in slug... they are recorded as 2 total bases... basically equalling 2 base hits... so that extra 90 feet that runner was able to stretch his hit into is evidently counted as 2 base hits, and should be pissing you off as well.

It's because his statistic is basically a way to look at a way of a player's extra bases gained (or earned, if you will), dependent upon on-base percentage. I mean, it's called "All Base Percentage" for a simple reason... it's not just for the bases gained on your hit or however you reached base, but it also is for earning an extra base by stealing.

This isn't intended to come off rudely, but it is not your designed statistic, therefore you are not fully understanding the intent of its design and/or purpose.

The only downfall I see in this statistic is somewhat similar to the slugging percentage stat... in that those [speedy players] that reach base have a much better opportunity to raise their ABP by stealing a few bags, although with liability of being caught stealing. At the same time, the slugging percentage stat will raise for those with higher batting averages sometimes, even if somebody "slugs" better than you. That's why I enjoy the isolated power stat.

                        Hitting: VORP, OPS+

                        Pitching: VORP, xFIP, ERA+
