Baseball Tonight will never be the same....However, maybe Harold can do what Bobby Valentine did when he got kicked out of a game and come back with some glasses and a mustache

I just heard the news on espn.

I shocked and really bummed out.

Now I want to know what the heck happened.

He was warned by the big-wigs on numerous occasions to cool it with the ladies, but someone finally lodged a complaint, and he was canned immediately.

I bet he didn't hit on Pam Ward!

I really liked HR, so this is bad news for me.

I too heard it was sexual harassment...

              More from Deadspin:

(UPDATE: Another reader, with "contacts on the inside," refutes the sexual harassment whispers: "Anyone who is saying sexual harassment either has been given bad third-hand info or is lying. Harold has had a couple of rather heated arguments with the producers at "Baseball Tonight," and some of the suits at ESPN over the program's coverage of Alex Rodriguez. At the last production meeting, when it was made clear they were going to really play up the A-Rod angle during coverage of the Yankees-Texas series, Harold had a colossal meltdown, which led to his dismissal. The sexual harassment allegations are even more laughable when you consider that he is being replaced by Steve Phillips -- a man who has never met a skirt he wouldn't chase and who was caught in one of the more embarrassing front office sexual harassment scandals in MLB history."

True? Not true? This, like the rest of it, just reinforces our point: We don't know. And the longer ESPN pretends like nothing happened, like they're a corner shop with three employees, believing this stuff can possibly remain private, the more talk there will be. Still, this is the lone "it's not sexual harassment email" we've received.)

eh, it's more believable but I doubt they would fire him over a melt down on how they were portraying A-Rod.

Well, if you criticize the station's meal ticket, you gotta be dealt with.

This news totally sucks. With Gammons on the shelf already, the last thing Baseball Tonight needed was to lose HR. I'll probably never watch BBT ever again after this.

She's been doing play-by-play for the WNBA.

As much as this sucks, I can hardly wait to hear why they bagged him...

I really wish this was the "other" former second baseman who ruins the Sunday night game. I'd learn how to do cart wheels real quick.

oh - the one who always seems to say "my 70's Reds teams were the best" ?

Well I can see HR defending A-Rod but it'd have to a meltdown of nuclear proportions for me to fire him.

Look at it this way, ESPN is supposed to cover the news in sports and like it or not what's going on with A-Rod is definitely fair game.

Hmm maybe HR can take over the Kevin Kennedy at FOX?

Fair game, certainly. But spending 70% of the show on the fact that a player is simply going through a slump? That's just stubborn. If HR was, in fact, let go because he went postal on the higher-ups because of the overblown coverage on A-Rod and the surrounding situation, then I say good for him and FU to ESPN.

Hm didn't know it was 70% A-Rod coverage I was thinking it was more like 50-55%. In that case HR was right to go a little nuts on the ESPN brass.
