I was definitely exagerrating with my figure, but still, even if they are spending the 50-55% that you stated -- honestly, I haven't been able to stand too much Baseball Tonight, or SportsCenter for that, matter in a long time, because of instances like this -- that is absurd. When you base half a telecast around something a trivial as a player going into a slump for a week, you seriously need to get your priorities in order. There are 29 other MLB teams out there, about 2/3 of which are still in playoff contention, and there are far better things to be discussed over the length of a 20, 30, or 60 minute long show than A-Rod's struggles, which have been discussed at length already for the past seven days.

That's probably bullcrap (re: getting fired over heated discussions over A-Rod). They wouldn't suddenly can him in one day and refuse to speak publically about it if this was the case. They'd just say "Harold and ESPN have agreed to part ways due to creative differences".

I find the lady killer theory far more plausible, from my amateur, untrained eye. There could be pending litigation from 1 or more women, so the legal team might have told everybody to zip it to the press. There's no reason for them to keep quiet if management and Reynolds didn't agree on content of the show.

Anyway, the sexual harassment reason is sort of a let down for me to be honest. I was really, really hoping he stood on his bosses' desk, dropped trou, and unloaded a steamer right in the middle of all his bosses' papers. That'd be gold.

As do I. I really see no reason for ESPN to just immediately cut all ties with HR just because he disagreed on the coverage given to A-Rod, as right as he may be. Now, if there were/are pending lawsuit(s), that is certainly grounds for immediate termination.

If the Arod thing turns out to be true, then the YES network should hire Reynolds immediately. He'll be a hero in New York.

I wouldn't count on the YES network hiring him, seeing as he used to play for the Mariners. I'm guessing he'd do Mariners broadcasting.

Al Leiter played a combined 2 seasons 15 years apart for the Yankees and hes one of YES network's most used (and best most Yankee fans agree) broadcaster.

Depending on what he did/why he was fired, he could get blacklisted and not be able to get work anywhere. Jack "Goose" Givens used to be the color guy for the Orlando Magic TV broadcasts before he was accused of sexually assaulting a minor. He was charged, went to trial, and was acquitted of all charges. He was cleared before last season started, but still isn't working and had all of his commercials/endorsements pulled from TV down here. Any kind of legal tarnish on your image, gulity or not, can eventually be the death of your TV career.

It sucks that HR is gone...I thought he did a pretty decent job, especially with the LLWS. Depending on what happened, we may not see him anywhere for quite awhile.

No clue what really happened, but for those that didn't see BBT tonight last night, HR and Kruk got into a rather heated argument on air about whether or not the Yankees should trade gAyROD. Harold was saying to trade him and Kruk was saying not to.

Watching it now, with Krukker and Ravech... Other than the brief statement on SportsCenter, I don't think we'll hear anything about it during Baseball Tonight... I'm sure the powers that be have told everyone to keep everything quiet.

So after a few hours of digging, and kicking over a few rocks, here’s what we’re hearing about the termination of ESPN baseball analyst Harold Reynolds, who worked at the Worldwide Leader for 11 years until Monday: All the stories you’re reading over at Deadspin are accurate: Reynolds was a skirt-chasing cad, and last weekend, says a source, he reached an unfortunate tipping point.

Over the weekend, Reynolds allegedly took a PA for a meal at Outback Steakhouse. Afterward, he hugged her in a way that may have been deemed inappropriate. Apparently, the PA felt weirded out, and decided to file a complaint.

When the complaint was lodged, it became evident to ESPN brass that Reynolds had a massive file full of complaints of this nature. Supposedly, he was terminated sometime Monday morning.

You'd think he could do that with his wife or some floozy and not with ESPN employees.
