These days, who isn't overpaid? We see what's happening to A-Rod in the Bronx, with a $250 million player who is scared to throw to the bases... Beltran didn't have that much protection in the lineup last year, so I'm thinking the arrival of Carlos Delgado and D-Wright's rapid progress helps matters a lot... I'm just glad he's on our side.

He makes a lot of money for someone who has a hard time batting .300. That being said he's 20th in the league in salary. There's a ton of guys making more than him that aren't nearly as productive. In comparison, he's not over paid.

What's more troubling is Chan Ho Park's salary!

Well, I don't really care about his average.

I think his 1.002 OPS is far more important. Yup, it's better than Ortiz and #8 in all of major league baseball right now. He is also at a premium position (CF).

I agree with the rest of your post-in the current stage of the league, his salary is nothing ridiculous.

Ahh... the voice of reason.

One thing I was worried about was him being the #1 go-to guy last year... that plus his injury were major factors in his poor #'s.

He's a quiet leader; that's what makes him so valuable. When you pressing on solely him, I really don't think he can carry a team. But put a bunch of talented individuals around him and watch the man shine....

Sure he is a good player, but becasue of Wright and Delgado he doesn't have to carry the team. Less pressure, so that is why he is doing what he is doing!

Now, the entire week before, he was spitting about how Beltran-to-the-Bombers was a done deal, and CF was not going to be an issue for the Yanks for the next 10 years.... Then the Mets sign him, all of a sudden, he's this middle of the road player who just happened to get hot at the right time, and we weren't even his first choice... Sour grapes much, Mikey?

I wonder if he takes calls? Course most of the ppl listening to him are probably Yankee fans so they wouldn't have the brains to call him out on it.

This is why I always take the words of media personalities who are primarily hired by the teams they cover with a HUGE grain of salt.

Yeah, he took calls on his show, at least when I was up there... I hated it because my options were either his show or Mike and the Mad Dog, who I detested as well... It was only because the people at the station moved him into the afternoon drive slot, replacing Wally and the Keeg, who I generally enjoyed...

I've called Mike and the Mad Dog a few times. Called the Schmooze a few times. Called Mack and Sid a few times. My friends heckled Tony Paige last summer.

Michael Kay is awful. John Sterling is so awful it's funny. An Ayyyyyyyy bomb for Ayyyyyyy-rod. The Giaaaambbbbbbinnnno. The guy is drunk 90 percent of the time.
