Playoff Race: Who are you rooting for?

Here is the idea. Pick the team you are rooting for to win the divisions and the wildcards, and then proceed to choose the team you expect to win it. (No ridiculous picks. I don't want to see any Baltimore AL East predictions)

AL East
Rooting for: Toronto - Really dislike Boston and NY, enough said.
Expected: NY - Made good trades and are getting players back from injury.

AL Central
Rooting for: Detroit - Love seeing teams come out of nowhere.
Expected: Detroit - Lead is getting bigger and bigger.

AL West
Rooting for: Seattle - How can I not?
Expected: LA - Oakland's offense has been poor, Texas' has faded, and Seattle didn't add enough at the break.

AL WC
Rooting for: Minnesota - Would love to see that one-two punch in the playoffs.
Expected: Chicago - They have a lead and experience.

NL East
Rooting for: NYM - Rooting for anyone else is just idiotic.
Expected: NYM - They have this wrapped up.

NL Central
Rooting for: Mil - Like a lot about this team. Its still possible...
Expected: Hou - I really think they will make a run at this. The Cardinals just don't have that look this year, unless Mulder comes back hot.

NL West
Rooting for: Colorado - Love to see the underdog win.
Expected: LA - Have a lot of good guys coming back from injuries soon.

NL WC
Rooting for: Cinci - They have the lead, and I would love to see Jr. back in the playoffs.
Expected: StL - If Houston makes a run at this division, I think the Cardinals will grab the WC.

AL East:

Rooting for - New York Yankees. Contrary to a lot of others, I love watching the Yankees play. Derek Jeter is one of my favorite players. Definitely not sick of seeing Yankee magic.

Expecting: The Yankees. I don't know about the Red Sox pulling through with 'Tek being out for a month and Nixon also on the DL. We'll see what happens

AL Central:

Rooting for: Twins. Not much of a chance division-wise, but I'd love it if they won the division. Santana and Liriano are amazing.
Expecting: White Sox. They're gonna come through.

AL West:

Rooting for: Anaheim. Close to home, awesome talent. Vlad Guerrero is amazing.
Expecting: Anaheim.

AL Wild Card:

Rooting for: Oakland
Expecting: Oakland

NL East:

Rooting for: Umm....who do you think I root for?
Expected: Unfortunately, the Mets will probably end up winning. Never say never, though.

NL Central:

Rooting for: Cardinals. Fun team to watch, and although they're in the NL, I don't HATE them.
Expected: Cardinals.

NL West:

Rooting for: San Francisco. I want Bonds in the playoffs.
Expected: I have no idea, I guess Los Angeles. No clear cut winner here.

NL Wild Card:

Rooting for: The Braves.
Expected: Dodgers or Braves.

I'm a Detroit homer so it's pretty much Detroit or bust for me. That said, I hate the Yankees more than any other team in pro sports. I just hate the fact that they can buy their way into the playoffs while other teams have to gut it out and work for years to have one good run. I also hate how small and medium market teams get little to no respect in baseball -- especially from the media. Baseball Tonight should just be called Yankees/Red Sox watch -- and the pathetic bitches that play in the same league.

I would like to see Minnesota make the wild card even though I wouldn't normally root for them in anything. I'm just sick of Yankees/Red Sox every year and I'd like to see another small market team make it over one of those guys.

Expected: New York. Yankees made the moves at the deadline that give them a slight advantage down the stretch.

AL Central
Rooting for: Detroit. Anybody but the White Sox.
Expected: Detroit. It's all over.

AL West
Rooting for: Oakland.
Expected: Oakland. They play their best baseball in August and September and I think will take this division pretty easily.

AL Wild Card
Rooting for: New York (If the Yankees win the division, insert Boston here) Call me crazy, but I like watching the Red Sox and Yankees duke it out in the playoffs.
Expected: Boston. I still think the Yankees will win the division. Chicago is still falling fast and Minnesota's hot streak appears to be over.

Rooting for: Toronto Blue Jays- Would be nice to have anyteam beside ESPN's favorite teams in Boston and New York win the division.
Expected: New York Yankees - The Red Sox haven't won the division in 10 years, who else did you think I was going to pick?

AL Central
Rooting for: Chicago White Sox - 10 games against the Tigers still gives the Sox a fighting chance.
Expected: Detroit Tigers - However, the Sox need to take care of buisness and lately they haven't been doing that.

AL West
Rooting for: Oakland A's- Yes, they have a limited offense but I'm a firm beilever that picthing wins championships, which they have.
Expected: Oakland A's- The pitching will get them over the hump.

AL WC
Rooting for: Chicago White Sox - I really want to see the Chicago beat out Boston. That'll be two years in a row the White Sox end the mighty Red Sox season.
Expected: Chicago White Sox - They're the defending World Champions. Never count the champs out.

NL East
Rooting for: New York Mets - Would be crazy to think any other team is going to win it.
Expected: New York Mets - Not even close.

NL Central
Rooting for: St. Louis Cardnials - Watching Albert Pujols is a joy at the plate. We are witnessing one of the best hitters to come around in a long time. He'll carry them to the division.
Expected: St. Louis Cardnials - Yes, the Cardnials aren't as good as they've been in the last 3 years BUT they're still good enough to win the division.

NL West
Rooting for: Los Angeles Dodgers - Watching former Cubs players in Garciaparra, Lofton, Maddux and "Almost Cub" in Rafael Furcal have playoff success is enjoyable.
Expected: Los Angeles Dodgers - Once they get over the injuries they'll be on their way.

NL WC
Rooting for: Philadelphia Philles - Would like to see former White Sox Aaron Rowand get more playoff success again.
Expected: Houston Astros - Once their offense starts to get it together they're going to be tough.

Rooting for: A plane crash - Not really. I just can't take two happy NY teams.
Expected: NYM - Is that a fat lady I hear?

Rooting for: StL- I've been in St. Louis a few years now. It's more fun if they win.
Expected: StL- Even though they suck, I just don't trust anyone else to catch up.

NL West
Rooting for: Colorado - I always waste time rooting for the Rockies.
Expected: SD - 85 wins should be plenty.

Rooting for: Cin - It's been a long time coming.

Rooting for: Toronto Blue Jays but well they're sinking faster then the Titanic at this point and AJ Burnett has been the biggest bust in a Jays uniform since Joey McLaughlin

Expected: New York Yankees, they added enough pieces to make it to the dance but I think they'll have an early exit from the playoffs


AL Central

Rooting For: Detroit Tigers, I love a good story and i've decided this is my team to back in the playoffs. Jim Leyland has done an amazing job with a young, up and coming team.

Expected: Detroit Tigers, Everybody thought they'd be one of those "flash in the pan" first half surprises but they've played some remarkable baseball this year. Combine that with the White Sox not haivng nearly the pitching they had last year and you have the Tiggers winning the division.


AL West

Rooting For: Um I dunno, I don't watch a lot of west coast baseball but I think i'll root for Texas because I love their backup catcher's name Gerald Laird

Expected: Angels, the young guys are keeping this team alive and I like to see a young team do well, especially one with lots of hustle.


AL Wild Card

Rooting For: As much as I hate their manager i'm kinda rooting for the White Sox so we don't see the Yanks/BoSoxs combination in the playoffs AGAIN!

Expected: Boston Red Sox "sigh"


NL East

Rooting For: You'd be silly to cheer for anyone else, the Mets are my pick.

Expected: New York Mets


NL Central

Rooting for: Cincy Reds, I love tradition and those fans have suffered for a long time. It'd also be nice to see Griffey in the limelight again.

Expected: STL mainly because they've been THAT good for THAT long in the division.


NL West

Rooting For: Wow what a crapshoot! I'll go with the Dodgers because they have a nice mix of veterans and youth plus, I wanna see Maddux in the postseason one last time.

Expected: San Diego Padres, hey at least they got Jesse Barfield's kid


NL Wild Card

Rooting for: Er I dunno, Milwaukee tho realistically I think '07 is more their year for the playoffs.

Expected: Cincy I think
