Hello and welcome to yesterday. HH 2003

In the impatient pursuit for a baseball game I went to EB and said the hell with it. I picked up HH 2003.
Now I hated, no had enormous loathing for 2002. To sum that up, it was just the graphics. But I needed a baseball game, I had just rented ASB 2003, and it was alright, but it had some major gameplay issues that kinda turned me off to it. More on that later. But I could'nt stand looking at HH despite the great simulation of baseball it had in it. So I was optimistic and gave 2003 a chance.
DAMN, was I impressed. HH did right what no other baseball game I played ssince BB Pro 98 did. And that was hae a realistic pitcher/batter matchup. You know what happened when I first gave it a spin. The very first batter, the very first got walked on a 3-1 count. I thought what the hell. Never has it been a game where the pitcher realisicly throws around the batter. Then still in the first inning with me pitching the CPU batter knocked a shot into the gap with a runner on first and the runner went all the way home and the batter got a triple. Unbelievable. That another thing most games dont do and that a triple. Now keep in mind I only own a PS2, so no WSB comparisons since I cant play it. I dont know how the game play is on WSB so if any of the above happens on there, then thats my lost.
Great game also, with the simulation slider filled up, me and the CPU had a compined 6 hits and they won 2-0. Now I have'nt seen realism like that ever, not even on BB Pro. And I actually got pass the graphics, not great but defetnitly better than 2002. The thing that got me was CPU AI, they play almost like Ido. They steal whan you dont expect them to, they try for extra bases of a hit. Its was kike WOW. Fundamental city. I even like if you throw home from the outfield you can cut the throw off. Man this game has got it all.
Now back to ASB, great game. Dont get me wrong but I had a few gripes with it.
    1. Too freakin long. Damn it almost feels like you watchin a real baseball game and you see the pitcher wipe his head, scratch his nuts and play with the risen bag before he even figures out what picth hes gonna throw. It just took a little freakin to long even on the fast option.
    2. No pitchin around batters. I cant stand games where you cant throw balls . You can get strikes all day if you wanna. And the CPU des'nt even try to throw balls. They'll throw 3 straight strikes at you. So its impossible to get walks in tis game. And imagine if you could throw balls. You can tack on another 15 minutes of playin time. + your pitcher would'nt get pass the 3rd inning with that f'ed up fatige.
    3. That *** **** batting cursor. It was coo; at first but then I faced Randy Johnson. I could'nt hit a *** **** thing. It was sad, real sad. I just did'nt like it. It has a real aspect to it, in which you have little time to hit the ball but not enough time. If you aiming the cursor towards the bottom and he throws high, you can just forget it. Plus it made me concentrate so hard where the pitch was gonna be that I swung at the balls the CPU did throw. Its not a good thing when you're down by 1 in the ninth inning with bases loaded, 2 outs and a 3-2 count to go threw.
Graphicly the game is awesome. Everyting was beautiful. But if they fix those issues next game I will be satisfied. all they need is sliders to fix issue # 2 and 3. Dont know about 1 though, if they wanna show there graphics off it gonna still take an hour to finish a game.

I know I'm about 9 months late but I had to get it off my chest muscles. After an impressive effort from 3D0, thats my new #1 game to get this year. Next is WSB, then ASB and MVP. I willl have all of them. And hopefully, I'll be on time this year.
I dont care about online play since I have no ummm, ummmm, that network adapter thingy. I want it but I feel its time for the AI to give me a challenge I've been waitin for all these years. Playing multiplayer is fun but I love playing seasons so untill they let more than on player play in a season thats when I'll pick it up.

Thankyou and good night! ummm morning.

Welcome to the High Heat family! Its such a fun game. One thing that always amazed me was how in most running situations the CPU will throw over to first a few times. Damn CPU seemed to be reading my mind. The guys at 3DO know what they are doing. Can't wait for this year's version.

Nice observations and overview. I too enjoyed HH 2003 and bought ASB before I traded it back for HH. I'd enjoy hearing your thoughts on all the baseball titles this year if ud care to do a comparison for us.

You should've got HH PC. There's just no comparison between it and it's PS2 counterpart. Plus, you could've saved about 20 bucks (2003 PC is only $19.99).

The PC version is the best experience you can get. 2003 was just an update to 2002 because the developers spent most of their time with the PS2 ver. Imagine combining OOTP with High Heat

That would be so great. If only the MLBPA wasn't so petty and would let them use DOLLARS!!!
