    Colbrunn to the M's

.368/.414/.667 Those are his lefty splits.

    Good signing for the M's.

good, they need a little more versatility and they could definately use some left handed hitters off the bench. Now if they could only get some power in the lineup and another starting pitcher........

Well it's about time. We've been talking about signing him forever, it's good to finally have it official.

The P-I says that the M's want a veteran OF with pop (Cruz?), a starting pitcher (Suppan? Finley?), and a veteran IF.

I think Gillick would like nothing more than to see Cruz in an M's uniform. Unfortunately, with the money he is most likely asking for, I seriously doubt it would happen. I wouldn't mind seeing Finley pitch for the M's, but I'd rather one of the younger guys (Soriano, Meche, Anderson, etc.) get a shot instead of bringing in ANOTHER 40+ guy for a year.

The M's probably have $3-4 million left, do you think it'd be enough to get Cruz or Fick?

I could see them going after Fick, and I think he would be more affordable than Cruz. Though Cruz could choose to take a pay cut to be a Mariner again, especially if the market is so slow. I'd like to see them make a play for Paul Wilson, I think he could be a good #4 or #5 starter for the M's.

                Paul Wilson is complete suck.

I'd like to see Madritsch get the #5 spot. Sounds like he's exactly the power lefty we need at the league minimum!

It's hard to judge Paul Wilson considering he played for Tampa Bay. For 1 year with incentives I wouldn't mind giving it a shot. I agree with giving Madritsch the #5 spot.

                  Garcia
                  Moyer
                  Piniero
                  Franklin
                  Madritsch

                  Not the worst out there.

the M's will have to use the bullpen a lot especially if Piniero, Franklin, and Madritsch all make the rotation. They need to find a quality starter who'll eat up some innings.

You don't think Pineiro can go 6 innings? The kid's an ace in the making!

No the kid is definately going to be a stud but i wouldn't start throwing him out there for 8 innings every time out for the season...don't screw up his arm to soon. I mean, maybe if Anderson and Meche weren't rushed up so soon they wouldn't have the arm problems they're having now.

We certainly don't need 8 innings out of our #3 starter. However, I wouldn't be surprised to see him go against the A's twice in the opening series, once in Tokyo, once in Oakland.

Meche is looking strong. If he is healthy we have arguably the best rotation in the league as long as Freddy rebounds. Garcia, Moyer, Pinerio, Meche is as good as any starting 4 in the league if they all pitch like they can.
