    Ted Lilly vs. John Gibbons

    http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2556925

Unlike Hillenbrand, it looked like Lilly accepted Gibby's challenge to a fight.

I'm sure the Jays will blame all of this on Lilly and are working the phones right now.

"This is a sinking ship". Boy was Hillenbrand right.

The Jays are the biggest joke in MLB.

I was watching the MNF game and saw them arguing on the mound. I think Gibby was right to take Lilly out of the game so if Lilly provoked Gibby into a fight then I applaud Gibby for fightin' back.

Lilly won't be back and I have a strong feeling that the manager for the Blue Jays will be Ernie Whitt.

I don't care who you are, you can't have the manager and a player fighting. Especially during a game.

      The Jays are a joke.

None of this drama happened when Gillick/Beston were in charge.

Yeah I hear you, but if Lilly is huffing and puffing and throwing haymakers at the manager what do you expect Gibby to do? Just sit there and take a pounding? The man has to defend himself.

I have no clue why Lilly started acting like an idiot. He was the one that allowed 7 runs for crying out loud!

I remember back in 1991 when Rob Dibble and Lou Piniella got into it in the clubhouse. Sad seeing the defending world champs at the time have something like that happen.

I understand that if Lilly threw a punch at Gibby, than he has to defend himself. But it should never even reach that point in the first place.

This is not the first player vs. manager incident this season.

There's something seriously wrong with this franchise.

The fans and corporate sponsors deserve better than this.

At the end of this season, I hope Ted Rogers gives serious consideration to firing Paul Godrey, JP Riccardi, and John Gibbons.

Here's a eye witness account to what happened

After Gibbons gave the ball to reliever Jason Frasor, he followed Lilly down the tunnel and went at him according to Canadian Press photographer Aaron Harris, one of a handful of photographers to witness the incident.

The two began wrestling, clutching at each others shirts before security and several Blue Jays players jumped in to break it up.

I'm embarrassed to be a Jays fan right now.

I wonder if Rogers can lure Beeston out of semi-retirement to be the new President of the club? Lord knows this franchise needs credibility again.

Too bad we're not winning like Billy Martin's Yankee teams of the late '70s tho.

Sounds like Gibbons started this (if true that he pushed Lilly first).

Doesn't look good for the team in general.

On the bay area broadcast they showed a shot of JP Ricciardi talking with the owner. Boy did he look just miserable. Fighting with Shea Hillinbrand once was a red flag, but possibly causing your GM to move two players because of fighting with the manager is not a good way for Gibbons to keep his job.

I'm sure you'll only be a fan of the Jays for a little while longer.

This is absolutely disgraceful. Never have I been so ashamed to be a Jays fan. I don't blame Vernon Wells at all if he wants to walk away from this mess. This is simply pathetic. Gibbons has obviously lost control of his players, it's time to move on. Fire him tonight.
