Bench Clearing Brawls in a video game. yes or no?

it would be cool to see an occasional brawl in a video game. let is effect player suspensions. hit a guy after a homer, and he charges the mound. its a part of baseball. to make it even more interesting for games like dodger giants, yankee red sox games make the it more of a possibility for a fight to happen. dont make it so that you fight every game though. players who charge should get 3 game suspensions and i think it can add to a franchise mode. try and win the division with one of your stars ridin pine for fightin.

ASB already has what MLB would probably allow in a real (non-MLB Slugfest) baseball videogame... throw at a guy and he might charge the mound, but you won't see actual violence.

So you get the substance of using subs without any programming resources having been diverted to provide the fluff of animated brawls.

It would be cool, only adds to realism, but I'd rather have something added elsewhere thats necessary.

Useless. Developers should spend their precious time putting other crucial things in the game.

Yeah, but just once, wouldn't you like to see a Nolan Ryan headlock put on a guy or two? To me, if it's in the game, I want to see it in my game.

I want to see the franchise modes get deep enough to where teams will have fire-sales, ala the Florida Marlins, from time to time. I want to see managers run onto the field to protest a call and get ejected from the game (possibly taking away your abilities to pinch hit or manage your bullpen, giving them to the CPU controlled bench coach instead). And, I want to see a bench-clearing brawl that ends up with injuries and suspensions.

that would take the context of all game away....they should just have broken bats and taunts

What context? The context that it is a baseball game? It's still a baseball game.... if they aren't going to show the brawls, the least they could do is put a guy on the DL or on suspension following one. Happens every year in baseball, so why not have it in the game? I'm sure there will never be controlled fighting like in hockey video games, but anything would be better than watching a bunch of people scurry around the mound like in HH. There needs to be more consequence for plunking batters than just being ejected from the game.

Brawls are part of baseball. There are fighting games out where they show people's intestines getting ripped out and heads blown off and people having sex with hookers. If they can show all of that, then they can show an occasional bench-clearing brawl in baseball. Besides, no one ever gets hurt in those brawls with the exception of a bloody nose or something. If you get beaned and it is intentional or out of revenge, then yes, I feel you should have the option to charge the mound with the consequence of a suspension. It's part of the game. However, they should be realistic about it. There are only about 10-15 brawls per year.

MLB just wouldnt allow it. They dont want to glorify fighting in the game. They did that with some hockey games years back taking out the fighting.

There was a nintendo game about 12 years ago (maybe bases loaded??) that if you beaned the right guy, he'd charge the mound and beat the crap out of your pitcher, lol. It may be silly, but honestly, it was one the funniest things I'd ever seen in a video game.

                      Yeah, it was Bases Loaded.

As for the bench-clearing brawls, what would be the point?

How many games do key players miss each year because of suspensions following brawls? A few, some years too many to count... that situation could have a direct effect on games, the season's outcome, a player's stats... it's in the game, so it should be in the game. I doubt the MLB will ever let video game developers put the real deal in there because they have trying to crack down on the fighting so much in the past few years.... but it still exists. I don't care too much about seeing the actual fight, but I do want to see the consequences.

Wonder what MLB would think of just explaining the results of a brawl....injuries, ejections, etc.

It will never happen. In the minors you get suspended AND fined at least $300 (at least thats what it was in 1997) for just leaving the bench or your position. The players association wouldn't go for it. I do agree that ejections and suspensions should be in the game. Maybe after a hit batter or 2 the ump warns you. They warn you for breathing too heavy on the damn mound anymore.
