    Jon Lester

Its being discussed in the Red Sox thread but I thought it deserved its own in the main forum. Lester was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma today. Absolutely tragic for a kid his age and everyone should be praying he pulls through and maybe even return to baseball if he's lucky enough.

About the only good news is that it is very curable especially at his age.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

Yea I hope he's alright from a non baseball perspective but they said he should be in for spring training next year. He's very lucky that its curable and I hope he gets through this quick because he is so young for something like this to happen to him.
