Do any of the console baseball games have this?

One of the things that I think is a must for any baseball game is the ability to force each team, whether CPU managed or human managed, to use a strict 5 man rotation. The games that simply plug in the best pitcher that's not tired do no produce realistic results, since the good pitchers will start 45 games or more per season. Does any game allow you to set the rotation and force the game to stick to it?

I doubt it b/c it makes sense to start a pitcher who is rested.

but this year's new games are lookin at having realistic pitch counts in games. Maybe that will affect simulated games as well and force the user/CPU to go with a 5 man rotation (4 with off days).

I can live with that. What I can't live with is if a pitcher gets shelled in a game and only lasts a couple of innings and he's brought right back two days later. Having pitchers with over 35 or so starts is not realistic either.

I agree. It should be coded that if a starter pitches at least 3 innings he automatically is done until his next start. Lets hope this is taken care of.

MAybe Im not understanding you correctly but to not allow a starter to pitch until his next start if he went three innings to solve a problem that exists during the regular season will create a problem in the post season where where necessity may require you to use a pitcher. This happens occasionally. I remember Hershiser in 88 and I think Kevin Brown did this too in 97(?).

true, but i think we can all agree that companies should realize by now that there should be different coding for season games compared to playoff games.

            a change in atmosphere...level of play...strategy.
