Good point. A broken online game would be worse than no online play.

Assuming it's the only on-line baseball game available this year, I'll be picking up the PS2 version, but I'm still confused. The GameStop web site has it listed as "On-line capabilities, featuring downloadable roster updates". Looking at the EBgames website, it says "On-line capabilities, including head-to-head play". So which is it or is it both?

They're probably just letting the rumor float around for awhile, until they've gotten everybody's pre-orders. Once it gets close to release and everyone sees that it won't happen, they'll be too lazy to cancel their orders and just decide to try the game out anyway. Brilliant marketing strategy, in my opinion.

Ranks right up there with the "Name your baby Turok" and "we'll pay your speeding tickets" promotions Acclaim has had lately.

Well, I received my latest garbage-o-riffic PSM lately, and it does have previews of this year's baseball titles. PSM makes IGN look like the New York Times, but, here are the relevant quotes from the ASB section:

"Being able to play against other people online is a definite plus for the series."
"the first PS2 baseball game to offer full online support for multplayer action and downloadable content"

That's all there is - nothing to indicate that any PSM staff actually was able to try the online functionality.
