    Personally, I wouldn't.

Yeah I know the comments I mentioned is not from the most credible source in the world but from what little i've seen of Zito in the last couple years I tend to think that Mr. Lee is right.

Bill "Spaceman" Lee was on the radio here today and he was talking about Zito. He basically thinks there's something wrong with Zito's mental makeup. Zito can lose his composure very easily and basically be off in another world rather then being focused when the chips are down.

Is this the guy you really want to see in a major market where the expectations are through the roof?

      I think not.
I think there is some validity in Spaceman's argument. Look at Zito last night - retires the first 8 batters and then all hell breaks loose after a lousy HR. He was in total control until Inge hit a bomb. As we all know, mental makeup has some much more to do with pitching that actual physical talent.

I wouldn't mind him on the Dodgers, but he doesn't deserve Lowe money - Lowe doesn't deserve Lowe money! I think Padres are going to get him though - that is a massive ballpark and the Padres need help winning in their own park - still won't be a number 1 on the Padres.

I hope the Yanks stay far away from him.

His laid-back surfer dude attitude wouldn't fit in that great in the Bronx, IMO.

It'll be interesting to see where he ends up. I could see him being a 100% total bust if the Yankees sign him.
In addition, I've heard that he was great at the start of his career but then all the batters made their adjustments to his pitching style and started to wack him around - but Zito never made any counter-adjustments. Every professional sport, especially baseball, is all about adjustments.

I consider myself a "interested observer" of the A's.

I don't see how anybody can question Zito's mental makeup. I also chuckle when people point out how Zito doesn't rise to the occasion. People must have a short-term memory. He just dominated the Twins a week ago.

His VORP the last 2 seasons are 41.1 and 51. I don't consider him to be one of the elite pitchers in baseball, but he would vastly improve whatever team he signs with.

I think the fact that he plays guitar and does yoga is worth an extra 10 mil by itself.

Only because there aren't a whole lot of good FA pitchers.

He's good, but he's a #2 or #3. Good pitcher but not worth the money he will most likely get.

The Royals should sign him. He'd be a number one on that team for sure. I'd take him, he can't be any worse then what we already have.

He's not an ace, but someone will pay him like one. I think he'll end up a Met, and the Yankees will target Matsuzaka. He may prefer the West Coast, but he won't be able to turn down the money Omar is willing to line his pockets with.
