Everyone answer one question:

Would the interview with Lidle be so unfair had he not died yesterday?


Obviously hindsight is 20/20 and now that tragedy has struck, Mike and Dog feel like jackasses for ripping him. But had he not died, the interview wouldve been no big deal.

Its human nature to feel guilty about not being 100% civil towards someone prior to their passing, but to insinuate that Mike and Dog did anything wrong is ridiculous.

Yes. Everything is just magnified by this tragedy.

The only reason it's getting really talked about it because of what happened. I may not have made a thread here, but my friends and I were talking about how he was ripped before the tragedy.

Let me clarify... it's not so much that the interview was unfair,as it is M&MD were completely ready to lynch the guy from the start. No player should have to be subjected to it... I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have entertained another call from/to them after that fiasco.

You seem to be assuming that what they did is OK because its there job and people have become normalized to it...but that doesnt mean its necessarily OK. If you are going to be uncivil in order to be entertaining, you have to be prepared for the fact that it might backfire at some point...you cant have it both ways. Otherwise you leave the door open to say anything they do is excusable.

You seem to be assuming that what they did is OK because its there job and people have become normalized to it...but that doesnt mean its necessarily OK. Just that our society has reached a point where the only way you can get attention or be "entertaining", especially as a celebrity, is to do outlandish, idiotic stuff. People feel they won't be in the spotlight unless they do something to seperate themselves from other athletes, singers or actors.

It's why TO always leads off SportsCenter - because he's a drama queen, not because he's a great WR.

It's why Howard Stern gets such fantastic ratings, same as Mike & The Mad Dog and Colin Cowherd.

It's why people care about Britney Spears because she's white trash who drops her baby, gets married for 25 minutes, burps loudly and not because she can sing (wait - she can't! hehe).

It's why Flavor Flav is more famous for having a jackass reality show than he is being a pioneer in hip-hop.

Every new reality show tries to be more shocking, more outlandish, push the envelope more than any previous reality show. It's stupid.

We live in a meathead society.

OK, I agree. Theres a lot of catering to the lowest common denominator. It also speaks to the lack of originality...its like instead of coming up with my own schtick, Ill annex someone elses and try to be more outlandish. Youre exactly right. Theres a lot of garbage being presented to us today.
