    Offseason Trade Rumors Thread

For 27 teams, it's already the postseason which means tons of rumors about offseason moves. If possible, to get this stickied. If not, no biggie.

Around the batting cage at the playoffs, the boys are saying it's close to a dead-solid lock that Carlos Lee will sign with the Astros. It's apparently one of the reasons the Brewers traded Lee to the Rangers. They knew they were going to lose him in free agency, so they decided to cut their losses and get what they could for him.

    --------------------

Is it possible, in this day and age, for a player like Adam Dunn to be undervalued? I think so. As Lonnie Wheeler informs us, it's "not working" with the big guy. Dunn turns 27 in November. He'll make $10.5MM in 2007 and has a $13MM club option for '08.

So what exactly isn't working with Dunn? He'poo 126 home runs over the past three seasons. Only David Ortiz and Albert Pujols have more. Dunn also has a .380 OBP over the last three seasons. Better than Carlos Delgado, David Wright, Mark Teixeira, Miguel Tejada, Carlos Beltran, Aramis Ramirez, or Andruw Jones.

I wouldn't be surprised to see some smart team fleece Wayne Krivsky for Dunn. You'll notice I said smart, which probably rules out the Cubs. That's a shame - would Bob Howry and Scott Eyre get it done? One could envision the Blue Jays, Red Sox, White Sox, A's, Rangers, Brewers, or Diamondbacks acquiring Dunn this wint

Well, Gillick said they will find a suitor for Pat Burrell. So that means Burrell will be traded during next season's July trade deadline...

Rumor #1: A-Rod to every other team.

As to Dunn, he's not a bad player, but I'm not sure what's considered "undervalued". He strikes out a LOT! He only hit .234 this past year. I'm not sure he'd fit the White Sox right now unless they lose either Konerko or Thome. These three plodders in the middle of the lineup would turn them back into the '04 team. Too many DH types, not enough speed.

I don't see Miggy getting traded, although it's not a bad idea. I'd like to get Burrell because we won't have to give up much and our lame situation in LF could use some improvement. I wouldn't mind his .385 OBP in the middle of the lineup.

According to Ken Rosenthal the Angels are actively seeking out a trade for Vernon Wells. No names from the Angels side but that's what he said.

The Angles always pick a top 20 young player and say they are in the market for him. No kidding? lol.

That would be a bit much to ask for. I mean Tex is good but he's only proven that he's great IN Texas. He has a pretty bad home/road split.

The Padres looking to trade for Perez. After the deal fell through in July KT has stated he'll re-visit trade talks which may consist of trading Linebrink to the Mets in a multiplayer package from both sides.

                      Other Padres news:

Khalil Greene may be shopped around this offseason as well as Ben Johnson and a couple of pitchers. However they will only be traded to plug in the two holes on this team (third base and a power bat).

There was talk on WIP today that he Phils will make a run at Soriano, which means they'll do whatever it takes to get Burrell to waive his no-trade clause.

Supposedly the Red Sox have interest in Burrell and also Gary Sheffield as possible Rightfielders since it seems likely that Trot Nixon will not be a Red Sock next season.

I thought the reason for getting Wily Mo Pena was to take over when Nixon left? The trade was Bronson for Pena right no others? Are the Red Sox looking to trade Pena?

Man the Braves should have sent Giles away a year ago when his market value was better. Maybe he did not seem as good because he is not a leadoff guy but I would have rather had Betemiet with not very good range over there than Giles.
