I get the same feeling, and it is a shame because he looked like he was going to be great, what a 1-2 punch Minnesota would've had for years with Santana and Liriano.Favorite Teams:

Yep it's a shame. Maybe it was too good to be true. I only wish I was able to see the kid when he had his "A" game. The only time I got an extended look at him was when he had a start in Detroit and had to leave the game due to his arm.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Nope, it's not just you guys. This guy should just retire now and save himself all the trouble.Comment

Looks like he's out for all of 2007, courtesy of ESPN. HUGE blow to the Twins if this is true.

Tommy John surgery.
Huge blow.
Hey, guys come back from the surgery, but it's not always certain they'll have the same electric stuff.
Please, no more fortunes."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

I expected that. Like was said, he will have a short career, unfortunately.Comment

Re: What's up with Francisco Liriano?
As a White Sox fan I can't lie and say that I let out a big sigh of relief to hear we won't be facing him next year.
On the other hand, I feel sorry for the kid. His career was very promising and looked like he'd be contending for the Cy Young award next year. It's bad news for someone to have Tommy John surgey so early in their career. I hope he does rebound and have the outstanding career...outside of the AL Central.I have more respect for a man who let's me know where he stands, even if he's wrong. Re: What's up with Francisco Liriano?
Well, I know Erik Bedard had TJ surgery, and he's turned out pretty damn good. He'll be back in '08 and will be almost as good as he was this year as long as everything goes according to plan.Comment

Yep the procedure is a lot better then it was in the earlier days but still, it takes about a couple years to fully regain the arm strength and whatnot so it's still somewhat dicey.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
