I haven't owned a console since the Sega Genesis, but I bought an XBox yesterday. I'm such a huge college football fan and I saw some videos of NCAA 2003 and decided I had try it. Well, I'm kind of disappointed. You see, I'm generally a sports sim guy. I like games like Strat-O-Matic baseball because they produce realistic results. That's what I'm looking for in a baseball game.
I own High Heat 2003 for the PC. I think it's a good game, but it's really pretty easy to hit. I can take the worst team in the game and Randy Johnson will only strike me out 2 times in an entire game. That's not realistic.
What I'm looking for is a game that really simulates Major League hitting. I want a 97 MPH fastball to take the same amount of time to reach the plate that it does in real life (what's that...1/3 of a second?). I want realistic throwing from the fielders and baserunning that is true to life in both speed and intelligence.
Since I'm disappointed in the football game, I'm seriously considering selling the XBox. The only thing that would make me consider keeping it is the promise of a really good baseball game on the horizon. Is there such a thing? Is anything on the way?
