CINCINNATI -- The Cincinnati Reds have added former reliever Jeff Brantley to their broadcast team.

The former ESPN baseball analyst signed a four-year deal and will split time between radio and television broadcasts of Reds games.

Brantley was with the Reds from 1994 to 1997, and also pitched for San Francisco, St. Louis, Philadelphia and Texas. He had 172 saves in his 14-year career.

Nice! One less former player to listen to on baseball tonight. As said above, get rid of Sut, and i'd add Tino to that list as well. I dont mind Kruk so much, but the guys they've got that cant speak and look uncomfortable need to go.

Dont forget Steve Phillips!!! Maybe he can GM the Royals, make them worse, leave after a few years, only to watch the team takeoff in his absence.

My favorite was trading Cedeno and Dotel for Bell. Actually, it was Cedeno for Bell then Bell sucked so Phillips had to give up a prospect in Dotel to get Cedeno back.

When I first heard Thom Brennaman was joining the Reds and that the club wanted a former player to work the days when he wouldn't be there, I hoped that they go after Brantley. I thought he did a great job with ESPN and look forward to hearing the new Reds announcing team in action next season.

Brantley is a tool, but I couldn't stand Steve anymore. Hopefully, this will turn Marty back to his old self and start calling the game like he can, better than anyone else in baseball.
