As a Red Sox fan I'm comfortable with the outfield of Ramirez, Crisp, and Pena in 2007 so Drew doesn't really excite me much. Unless they're planning on trading one of those three I don't see why they'd sign him. They might wish to platoon Pena, but I'd personally like to see him get a chance to start to see if he can improve his game.

I like Drew.... But not that much.
If they are willing to give Drew that much, I don't see why we didn't just re-sign Damon.“Nobody in the history of the game tried what I just tried. We’re talking about on the biggest stage, in New York, playing out of position and asked to hit fourth for the New York Yankees. I mean, that’s never been done.” - Sheffield on SheffieldComment

Re: J.D. Drew opts out of contract
I'm not supporting the signing of Drew per say, however, I am supporting the spending of higher tier talent as opposed to finding value players at lesser costs who give you lesser production. Smaller market teams should be doing that, not the Red Sox.
I think the concerns about Drew's personality have some merit, and I'm not sure I would offer him anything more than a 3 year contract (which he will probably be demanding).Comment
