Terms of the deal have come out:

One year for $10.5M, with a $6M option on '08 which could be guaranteed if he pitches 160 innings in '07 and $10M if he pitches over 200.

And just when I thought that I could forgive Tommy for what happened when he spurned us the first time, he gives us this gem:

"Everybody who knows me knows how important my family is."

Apparently money is just a little bit more important, however.

Ehh, we didn't have the money to get him. I'd rather keep Hudson, then trade Hudson to sign Glavine.

This may be the best move we do this off-season, not signing back Glavine. Book it.

i could be wrong, but from things I read, it would have been hard for the Braves to sign Glavine (plus - the "feud" between him & Shuerholz probably didnt help).. glad to see him back

The Braves probably did not want to give Glavine more than they pay right-hander John Smoltz, who will earn $8 million next season.

Braves general manager John Schuerholz does not issue no-trade clauses. The Mets were willing to grant Glavine full no-trade protection.

The Braves sought to trade right-hander Tim Hudson to clear money for Glavine, but Schuerholz was said to be asking too high a price, seeking both quality talent and financial relief.

Hudson signed with the Braves for a discount because of his desire to play in Atlanta. If traded, his new team might control him for only one season; Hudson could demand a trade as a player dealt in the middle of a multi-year contract. Though such players rarely exercise their right to become a free agent if no deal is completed, Hudson almost certainly would be unhappy with a trade.

The past friction between Schuerholz and Glavine — stemming from Glavine's departure for the Mets as a free agent after the 2002 season — might have further increased the difficulty of completing a deal.

All the melodrama aside, it would have been nice to see Glavine win #300 with the Braves.

I wouldn't have been upset with him even if the Braves had offered him a contract. If he wants to go for the money, more power to him.

I hate to burst your bubble... but I've hated the Mets for quite some time. Even when the Braves were running off Divison Title after Division Title.
