    Red Sox sign JD Drew

5/70. A lot of money sure, but if, and thats a huge IF, he stays healthy , he could be well worth it. Of course that hasn't happened yet.

      Meh...

It's not really a big deal to me. Drew has his good parts and he's got some bad parts but hopefully he can perform and stay healthy.

Now the Sox need to work on getting a SS Lugo, Lugo maybe? And then some more relief pitching.

I really hope that they don't trade Manny now. Are lineup could be pretty balanced next year with some good bats.

      1B Youkilis
      2B Pedroia
      SS Lugo
      3B Lowell
      LF Manny
      CF Coco
      RF Drew
      DH Ortiz

Lugo remains high on Theo's priority list and rumor has it that the Sox may be interested in trading for Cesar Izturis if they can't sign Lugo.

As for relievers: it has been rumored that Sox are interested in Eric Gagne.
Keith Foulke could end up re-signing or accepting arbitration.
Lefty Steve Kline has been mentioned in rumor as has Octavio Dotel.

Hasn't the possibility of moving Crisp been mentioned at some point?

Either way, good signing by the Sox. Drew should add to that already potent offense.

It's been mentioned, supposedly Colorado has had some interest but i don't expect Crisp to be traded.

I can think of a lot of teams that could use his services, but I also don't see him being moved. Hopefully the guy can stay healthy this season and do what the Sox expected of him last year.

For the money being thrown around, I think its a good deal. The injury questions are substantiated though, especially later in the deal.

I've been more negative about Coco then most Sox OSers, and I wouldn't do that deal. I do like the thought of Izturis at short over Lugo though... very much. And I also like the thought of Crisp not playing center, but I'd rather keep Manny and be stuck with Coco playing next to him with a chance to bounce back at the plate.

wayyyyyyyy overpaid. their offense is going to suffer next year if they trade manny. i can't believe jd drew got $14mil/year. he is a good player but that is some superstar type money right there.

Pretty good signing I think. The guy has to stay healthy, but Wily Mo Pena is still around just in case. With the way the market has exploded this year, they got Drew for a very reasonable price. Now stay healthy!!!

$14 million for a 20/100 hitter. Good riddance JD Drew.

Enjoy a bland personality, mediocre statistics, and injuries.

Yeah this might be just as bad as Matthews. The guy will have 1 good year next year to justify his deal and then he will do what he always does, whine and complain and break a nail and be out for 15 days here, stub a toe be out another 15 days. Face it the guy is made of glass, he has the tools to be a great player but I don't think he cares enough about the game to ever be a great player.
