Its gonna do exactly what you said. Determine if it will be a succesfull hit, foul, pop-up etc. But IMO, I dont think it will really be absolutly neccesary to use it unless you are experienced and want the full benefit out of the game. And add a challenge to playing. I always found it extremly usefull for key situations in a game for ex: A runner on 3rd and a weak hitter up and you wanna hit it to right field to bring the runner in. But if you noticed EA games have always been a sort of pick up and play type games where a friend who has never played the game can pick it up and beat you on the first try because he not tryna be fancy with all the features and bottons than you are. And Sega game, you need at lease two games of pratice to even beat the CPU. Thats why I've been slowly favoring Sega in the last few months. Thier games provide that you learn the game and learn when to use each botton before you can start winning. And EA is sort of like, you can get lucky once you learn what botton does what.

Re: Did EA solve one of baseball game\'s biggest flaws?
Well, one positive is that at least the basic physics are there. Bagwell swung late, and his shot went to right field with the ball curving realistically. Thats nice to see.
Also, Giambi had problems getting around on Pedro's heat. Another good sign. When I face Pedro, I want to feel like Im at his mercy every at bat...if I get a hit off him, I want it to mean something. From what Ive seen the pitcher batter duel looks nice.Comment

This view is nothing new to the baseball video games. Remember sega wsb2k1. To me that was one of the best pitcher batter interfaces of all time...

True. Sega perfected the wheel that time. Every other baseball game's pitching/batting since has been a bumpy oval, at best.
If only others had used WSB 2k1 as a base to build on, what a truly outstanding roster of choices we'd have by this year.Comment
