Re: Unit headed home?
I would welcome this deal even if it were only for AA minor leaguers."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Re: Unit headed home?
If we get Randy Johnson by trading Linebrink with a few more throw ins or if we can land several position prospects in this trade I'd be happy.
I'm not for or against trading Linebrink, but I see his value being pretty high now and if you can get something out of a setup man, I say do it.Comment

Re: Unit headed home?
Do it Cashman, before they sober up!
If Cashman can get rid of that contract and get anything of value for him he should win GM of the year. Re: Unit headed home?
I pretty much agree with everything you said. Have they not been watching him in a Yankee uniform? Although pitchers transitioning from the AL to the NL fair much better than NL to the AL. With that said I'd do this trade in a second if I were Cashman.NBA: New York Knicks
NCAA: Duke
MLB: New York Yankees
NFL: New York JetsComment

Re: Unit headed home?
I don't think he can pitch anywhere anymore. He's lost 7 MPH on his fastball which makes his slider much less effective. The Unit is pretty much done, IMO.Originally posted by billmaticRadman is more like the ******** homeless man's version of Okur.Comment

I agree 100%!! Do it Cashman before the Dbacks reconsider wanting back that scrub.

Re: Unit headed home?
There is the truth. I have watched, pretty much, all of Johnson's starts in NY. His fastball on many days is 88-90, which makes his slider useless. Also, his slider is flat as well. If Cashman can make this happen, even eat some of his contract, it is a major plus for the Yanks. Purging the clubhouse of the "sour" characters that the "Tampa" office brought in will definitey help. It would be another sign that Cashman is truly in charge. Great stuff if this happens.Formerly Favre4vrComment

I'm not saying he'll be what he used to be... I'm just saying he has a better shot at being somewhat effective in the NL and out of New York.Comment

Re: Unit headed home?
Randy Johnson has looked real old in NY so to echo others sentiments a return to the NL may be what the doc ordered for him. It would only be a one year thing. Personally I hope this doesn't happen as I love snickering at the Yanks for having such an albatross in their rotation.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Seems like RJ could yield us some good prospects.
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2708931
From the article above
He has been a disappointment in New York despite a 34-19 regular-season record, going 0-1 with a 6.92 ERA in three postseason appearances, and perhaps has become expendable. New York's rotation also includes Chien-Ming Wang, Mike Mussina, Andy Pettitte and Kei Igawa -- who must complete his $20 million, five-year agreement by Thursday. The Yankees also have oft-injured right-hander Carl Pavano and a couple of touted pitching prospects.
