    2007 Season Predictions

Pitchers and catchers report in less than 2 weeks. Lots of players changed teams.

This is how I see it shaping up:

    AL East

    New York
    Boston

    Toronto
    Baltimore
    Tampa Bay

    AL Centrall

    Cleveland
    Detroit
    Chicago
    Minnesota
    Kansas City

    AL West

    LA
    Oakland
    Texas
    Seattle

    NL East

    Philadelphia
    Florida
    New York
    Atlanta
    Washington

    NL Central

    Milwaukee
    Chicago

    St. Louis
    Houston
    Cincinnati
    Pittsburgh

    NL West

    San Diego
    Arizona
    LA
    San Francisco
    Colorado

    World Series: Cleveland over Philadelphia

I have to give a lot of credit to Shapiro. The Indians are a really deep team in terms of position players and pitchers. The only weak spot I see right now is Borowski as the closer. If he stumbles out of the gate, Matsny or Foulke should take over. Last season, the Indians fell well short of their expected Pythagorean Record. The 22 blown saves really hurt their record. An improved bullpen will really help this season. Grady Sizemore is a sleeper MVP contender.

my sleeper team this year would have to be Milwaukee...

I also think Philly will take the East, but that the Mets would take the WC..

Now that you have cursed my beloved Indians, I have no option but to weep because now we will surely come in last place behind even the Royals. Oh well, and I was actually starting to look forward to the season.

I'm not going to do my full fledged picks until Valentine's day.

Anywho Milwaukee is my NL sleeper and Cleveland is my AL sleeper but since AF cursed them I might have to pick another team.

I also think either the Yanks or BoSox are primed for a precipitous fall. My money's on the Yanks.

The Mets won't have as big of a season as last year but I think they'll eke out the WC.

I'm a Cardinals fan but I just think they lost too much pitching wise. I think the offense will be fine (Top 10), but the starting rotation after Carpenter will really struggle. And that bullpen will be okay, but not great (especially if Thompson has to move into the rotation, who I think will be fine as a #5 but is better as a middle reliever)

As far as the Cardinals defending their championship, coming from one of their biggest fans, it ain't gonna happen. The way it stands now, the way I see it, our rotation is going to look like this:

                      1. Chris Carpenter
                      2. Mark Mulder
                      3. Anthony Reyes
                      4. Adam Wainwright
                      5. Kip Wells

The top four, I'm comfortable with. It's that fifth spot that I'm worried about. As far as a prediction, I'm gonna go with the Detroit Tigers.
