Ah, the Angels were dumb to give him 10 million per season anyway. He'll prove his worth this year when he doesn't crack .270.
I thought that contract was idiotic. He had one good year and now he's one of the best paid players around. The Angels are turning into the Yankees, trying to buy championships but only buying Division Championships.

      I dunno about that.

They overpaid for Matthews, which was dumb, but what other big name players have they bought in hopes of buying a championship?

Colon and Guerrero were both signed the year they were making their transformation. Cabrera was signed after Eckstein's contract was up and they wanted an upgrade.

Plus they have a loaded farm system. I don't really think they are like what the Yankees have been in years past.

Yea, I wouldn't compare them to the Yankees.

I guess I can understand the value considering Meche got 11 million per year. Baseball is rich right now and teams are making money.

It's a good thing, I think. Small market teams can't really argue that they can't compete.

I was listening to Mike & Mike in the morning on Friday and they mentioned how this season there is realistically a good number of teams that can compete for a World Championship in contrast to a few years ago when everyone thought maybe only 4 teams could win.

I'd even say that most people aren't afraid, worried, or even care about the Yankees and their players or payroll. Small market teams are proving they can play and payrolls have gone up to a point that while they aren't throwing 100 million dollars a year at guys, 60-80 million can still get the job done.

I say it's getting better for fans.

That being said, Matthews Jr. doesn't deserve 10 million a year. He got paid based off one catch. One catch. Like I said before, he'll show everyone that he doesn't deserve the money.

          1. HGH is NOT a steroid. Read it again and say it with me... HGH is not a steroid.

          2. HGH does not cause massive strength or muscle gains... not without steroids in the mix too, typically. HGH by itself is a might fine substance, but it typically leads to leaning out and not big gains. It DOES, however, assist with joint and ligament health. Nobody gets big on just HGH...

          3. For any real noticeable results on HGH, you have to take it a MINIMUM of 6 months... typically ONE FULL YEAR PLUS.

This year is a pretty wide open year. What has always cracked me up through is when I hear people complain about a lack of parity in baseball is there is more parity today than there ever has been. In the 1950's, an era a lot of people refer to as the "golden era" of baseball, the New York Yankees went to every WS except for 1954 and 1959. They played in 13 of 15 World Series from 1949-1963. Without any divisions (just AL and NL), teams started the year with no chance at the postseason.
