Range is how well a player can cover the field at that position. I would assume this would involve, skill and speed and how well the fielder's vision is.
Speed I guess is how fast the player can run the bases and what his chances are of stealing and advancing bases. -

Speed and Range are 2 different things. Speed is how fast you are. Range is how well you can get to the ball. Just because someene has good speed, doesnt mean that he has good range.
Range involves where you position yourself according to the batter/situation.
Range involves reactions and jumps. A CF can be the fastest man in baseball, but if he doesnt get off to a quick start to catch the ball, he will have a lower range.
Range also invovles which type of route you take for the ball. The better angle you take to catch a potential double, the better chance you have to catch it. Remember, the shortest distance between 2 points is a straight line. If a CF runs at a bad angle to catch the ball, his chances will decrease.
Speed helps when determining range, but there are other factors.Comment
