A-Rod says future with the Yankees is up to fans

    http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2797798

This is what's wrong with A-Rod. He cares to much about what people think, especially the fans.

He's a big wuss who's got this "oh please love me" thing going on. A guy like that no matter how talented will never last in NY long term. So I do hope the fans boo him as much as possible so he leaves the Yanks with his tail between his legs and crying on his pillow.

I love this guy more and more every year.

The stuff he comes out with is so frighin entertaining that it's insane.

I can't wait to see what kind of numbers he puts up when he gets out of NY.

A-Rod does care too much about what people think but people need to stop hating on him. Most of the hate still stems from his insane contract from the Rangers. People want athletes to speak the truth and when he says something that most people already know they will jump on him for that.

Everybody is wired differently. Some people are thick skinned and some are thin skinned. It doesn't mean he's being a baby. He's simply being human. If that doesn't make him a good match for New York so be it but we shouldn't crucify the man for caring too much. There are tons of people out there that couldn't handle playing in New York either. He doesn't have the ability to tune that stuff out - its not his makeup. Its not as simple as saying stop being a baby.

Nice avatar rudyjuly2. But on topic, just as long as he doesn't come back to Texas, I will be alright.

The funny thing is, I don't even own a 360 lol. It was the best cover I could find for Vince Young who I thought was unbelievable in college and especially in the big games. I think I will have to get a new one once '08 comes out.

I will say the one thing about A-Rod that doesn't look good is that the teams that trade him usually get better (Seattle, Texas) while the teams that get him don't go as good as they hoped. He seems like a pretty good guy and Sheffield has kind of stood up for him (in Detroit) although he doesn't seem well respected by his teamates in NY. Not sure though.

He always gets criticized for being a boring interview and giving manufactured responses and cliches. When he's honest he gets criticized too. He should just refuse to talk to the media.

I listened to the interview yesterday, I didn't think he said anything that would be a huge story. I just thought it was a good interview.

As much as I hate the Yankees, I feel for A-Rod, and completely agree with you. No matter what he does, he is crucified for having such a HUGE contract. Granted, it was totally outrageous, but who in their right mind would reject $250 million? I know that with that kind of money, he SHOULD be bar none the best player in the game, but it's not his fault he took the money.

It seems as though no matter what he does he is hated on. Some of it, such as his defensive woes, are well based. However, I swear someday we will see A-Rod hit a clutch homerun, and SOMEONE will complain he didn't hit it farther.

                    So true, so true.

It's just amazing to me how great of a career the guy has had... only for it to be overshadowed by his contract and fan gripes.

Pretty much. A-Rod will be caught between a rock and a hard place until he delivers a title to the Yankees. Until then, nothing that comes out of his mouth will be spared by the media.

He should join his surrogate father in Chicago and put up ridiculous numbers.... He'll be fine then.

It's amazing the number of Yanks fans that I talk to who absolutely DETEST A-Rod... Every move, every word, every breath is dissected under this huge microscope. I feel a little sorry for him. But it's true, his problem is that he wants to be loved by everyone... Joe Benigno said the same thing on the FAN today, and has always said that about A-Rod... It doesn't make him a bad person or anything, it's just that that kind of personality doesn't mix in well in NY.

As others have said Arod should just keep his mouth shut because nothing he ever does or says will be good enough for a lot of Yankee fans. If this year goes similarly to last year, he needs to opt out of his contract and go to a team with fans that can appreciate him.
