Am I the Only One who Hates the Power Swing?

Am I the only one who can't stand the whole power button - contact button thing? I think it is so unrealistic. People are gonna be hitting the contact button all day with people like Derek Jeter and he is gonna finish with 0 homeruns whereas he would normally finish with about 20. I can't stand this option. This is why I am staying with HH. It has one-button swinging, which, in my opinion, is more realistic. There are only a handful of players who actually swing for the fences. The other players just swing hard and homeruns occur on solid contact. Does anyone else hate this 2-button swinging?

Yesterday, someone hit a home run off me with Ray Durham using contact swing. Yanked it 400 feet down the line.

I know you can hit HRs in ASB with the non-power swing.

You'll probably hit a few more or a few less than Jeter's norm if you use one swing all the time. You'll probably hit a few more or a few less in High Heat as well, and Jeter will probably hit a few more or a few less this upcoming season.

I don't buy that stuff about players not trying to hit home runs. Sometimes it's like that, but a trend you see quite often is players not hitting for that much power, then suddenly hitting a lot more home runs and striking out a lot more (Steve Finley, Luis Gonzalez, Craig Biggio, Kirby Puckett, Shawn Green, Jeff Kent, Rafael Palmeiro, etc.)

Players do swing for the fences because that's where the big bucks are.

I dont like the power button either. I think hits should depend on your own eye hand coordination, the players ratings, and ball physics. No power versus contact swing necessary.

I think the power swing works given one caveat:

You must be able to hit homeruns with the normal swing as well, as in ASB. I never uses the power swing in ASB and get pretty good, realistic numbers (if I can stay awake during the game).

In addtion, the power swing should not allow you to have hit 7 homeruns in two games with the same player, either. There needs to be balance.

I'm excited that WSB will have that balance, but of all, I am confident that as always, HH will.

I believe I read in the WSB preview that it will be almost impossible to hit a HR using contact swing. This is the one thing keeping me away from WSB. I am definitely a supporter of realism and HH has it.

Im intrigued by the "timing" swing they mentioned as a feature. I wonder if thats more of a HH style.

Yeah, WSB has the one-button swing in addition to the contact/power and the charge meter swings.

Thanx Checkmate. Now it's all about the realism. HH had it last year and WSB didn't. Now I have to see which one is more realistic as far as stats and records.
