Kid can't complete rehab. That's why he's with the Reds and not the Devil Rays. If he stays clean and does well in AAA then you can bring him up when the inevitable Freel/Griffey injury happens. Hatteberg had a .389 OBP and plays a good 1B. You can't keep that out of the lineup.

The Reds aren't allowed to send Hamilton down to the Minors unless the want to risk giving him back to the D-Rays.

At this stage of his career I really think Griffey should be in LF

Dunn better not be batting second, if he does, we're dead.

Freel is better as the Ultra utility guy, if he does start they've got to limit him to under 140 games or he'll be dead by Sept 1.

While i would not bat Dunn 2nd to be fair to him he did hit.317 with a .417 OBP and actually struck out fewer times than Felipe Lopez did batting second. Dun strikes out a lot but with his power he should be hitting lower in the lineup.

I'm sure the D-Rays have no interest in having Hamilton back. Otherwise they wouldn't have exposed him to the Rule 5. The Cubs, who drafted him in said draft, also had zero interest in keeping him. There is a reason for this, my friends.

Pardon my play on words but why exactly is Freel so frail?

I don't think anyone thinks he's frail,he just plays balls out all the time and that leads to injuries. I love the way he goes about his work, but he will pull a hamstring or break something this season.

Hamilton has had his problems, and for him and his families sake I hope he has overcome his addiction. He has earned a spot on the team with his play. I like anyone in LF over Dunn. He will never win a gold glove acting like the ball is a grenade. Painfull to watch out there. He needs to be on 1B.

What makes you think a man that can not catch a fly ball can play 1b?
Do you realize how many more defensive plays he will be involved in playing 1b? I remember last year when Narron flurted with the idea of moving Dunner to first. When the experiment was finally over Narron's only comment was "he is not a firstbaseman and that is all I am going to say".
I cracks me up that everyone always says lets just move him to first. Dunn has one true postition and that is DH!!! LOL

                          More on Freel.

Freel OK: Against the Phillies on Tuesday, center fielder Ryan Freel made another one of his trademark,death-defying catches and paid for it in the form of back spasms.

On Aaron Rowand's first-inning drive to the left-center field wall, Freel made a spectacular head-first diving catch across the warning track as he collided into the fence. He spent several moments on the ground as left fielder Adam Dunn and right fielder Ken Griffey Jr. came over concerned. Freel was looked over by the trainer and Narron but finished the inning.

Josh Hamilton took over in center field for Cincinnati in the bottom of the second. The Reds said that Freel returned early to the team complex in Sarasota but was fine.

"It shows you how crazy he is," said starting pitcher Kyle Lohse, who was on the mound at the time of the play. "He's a gamer. You don't see too many guys go head-first into the wall in Spring Training, jeez. It shows you he's out there and he doesn't take any plays off, no matter what. That's impressive."
At this rate he won't make opening day.

He needs to realize sometimes it is ok to let the ball fall for a hit, if it meens you get to play the next day.

Ironically, had Griffey learned that same lesson a few years back, he might not have derailed his own pursuit of Aaron.
