    Prior sent to AAA

Surprised no one wrote about this. From potential franchise savior with the best pitching mechanics of all time, to AAA pitcher who those same people are finding faults with his mechanics.

not shocked by this..... he has proven to be very fragile, along with buddy Kerry. From what I heard his FB was not even touching 90 mph in the spring (some said as "high" as 84).. I am starting to think these two guys are becoming "busts"

I don't think injuries make people bust, I think it makes them unfortunate. Tim Couch, bust, Mark Prior unfortunate IMO.

I much prefer him to go down to Des Moines right now anyways. His outing yesterday was not bad as he gave up -0- earned runs and in the last 11 innings pitched, he has only given up 1 earned run. He is starting to get his control back for his curve and slider.

Imo he just just needs some more time to iron out his mechanics and get back on the road to being at the least a solid 2nd or 3rd starter. We just dont need him right now. The first month of the season is easy to go with a 4 man rotation and we still have Zambrano, Lilly, Hill, Miller and Marquis. I like Lou's approach to this, just because your name is Mark Prior doesnt mean that you can't go to the minors to get some regular work right now. In the long run, Mark will be called up and have, what I believe, will be a much beeter year then the last 3.

          Pryor's problems aren't just mechanics...he was a juicer(see "GODZILLA CALVES")
he's a shell of his former self. his legs look like toothpicks now.
that being said...without Pryor or Wood, the Cubs Pitching staff is mediocre at best.

I hope he gets sent down to AA, the stadium is about 20 minutes from my house.

              Re: Prior sent to AAA

Not a surprise. Wade Miller has out pitched him this ST and this was a no brainer for Lou. Most local reports say that Prior has topped out in the high 80's and has hit 90 only a couple of times.

Even if he wanted to use his off-speed stuff more, he'd walk a few guys per inning. He doesn't have any control of his slider and his curve is only a little better. I think his real problem at this point is that he's trying to over-throw when he gets into the game. His lead shoulder is flying out and he's spinning off on all of his pitches. If he can get that corrected at Iowa, it'll add 2 or 3 MPH to his fastball and he'll actually be able to control where his pitches end up.

Look for him to be back with the Cubs in Late April, barring any setbacks. *Knock on wood*

I remember the uproar when Minnesota took Mauer over Prior.

Sad really because he was so good in 2003 and now, he's a shell of what he was. I hope he can get hs mechanics back and be able to avoid anymore serious injuries to get back to the top

You can't knock on Kerry. His arm is likely to fall off if you do.

Hopefully Prior stays in AAA for atleast 4 weeks. I want to see him pitch when Iowa comes to Memphis in late April.

Well, even as a staunch Cubs fan, the thought of Wood and Prior being on " something" has crossed my mind once or twice, though I can't confirm or deny it. I would say the staff is better then mediocre, Zambrano is obviously a true #1 and I think people will be suprised by what Hill can do, he is a good left hander with a sharp snap to his breaking ball. I assume we will get 13 - 16 wins out of Lilly and I really think Wade is going to bounce back and have a nice year. Dont get me wrong, I understand it would be a better staff with a truly healthy Prior and Wood, but relying on those guys as a 1 and 2 or gone thank God.

I love Memphis' stadium. It'd be awesome to live in those apartments that overlook the field.

Yeah, Autozone Park is gorgeous. Those aparements with the view towards the stadium run for close to $1,100 a month (2 bedroom).

It'd be sweet to have but I don't think I'd pay for it.
