    Ok.. best game seen live?

    Well I have two:

    - My dad took me to a Mets game back in '85.. the matchup was Fernando vs the Doc.. game was a 1-0 Dodgers win, but the game was just great.. both pitchers just pitching lights out.. that was what started my "love" of the Mets (also can still remember the drunk sitting a few rows behind me yelling at the players)..

    - last year, my g/f got me Mets/Cards tix.. Maine was the starter that night vs Weaver.. well get there early to watch some BP.. LaRussa had a ball that he only gave to someone wearing a Cards shirt (actually pretty funny banter on that one). As for the game: well, Cards were up 3-1 at this point & AP steps up with the all the "ducks on the pond".. my g/f turns & says "wouldn't it be funny if he hits a grand slam?".. sure enough, next pitch, SEE YAAA.. so now it's 7-1 & I am muttering under my breath at her (lol).. needless to say, Delgado cranks a few out (a granny for #400).. so the game gets to 7-6 Cards in the 9th.. from what remember, there was one out & LoDucca got on.. up steps the "other Carlos".. first pitch--- CRACK!! game winner HR.. I have never, ever been in a stadium that loud before, or for that matter "rockin".. best-game-ever!!!

some other cool times: Asking for Paul Molitor's autograph at Yankee Stadium (called him "Mr Molitor" which he turned & said "you dont have to call me Mr." & smiled).. dropping a foul ball cause I bumped my friend next to me causing the ball to go off my knuckles, only to have a guy with three fingers on one hand get the ball & mock me

    so - what are yours?

    Yankees-Red Sox 1999.

Pedro Martinez pitched a 1 hitter, with 17 strikeouts. Red Sox won 3-1, the one hit was a Chili Davis homerun.

A number of Yankees called that the best pitching performance they ever saw, and most of the team had been involved in 2 perfect games. He was that dominant.

Pirates vs Astros at PNC Park in 2001.

Bottom of the 9th inning and the Pirates are down by 7. My dad and I thought about leaving, but decided to stay. Long story short, the Pirates scored 4 runs and loaded up the bases down by 3. Brian Giles stepped up to the plate to face Billy Wagner. Not the match-up I wanted to see. I think Wagner threw a slider down and away and then came with a fastball at 97 MPH. Giles turned on that thing and crushed it over the Clemente wall in RF for a walkoff grand slam HR. The minute he hit it, I jumped out of my seat knowing it was gone.

Joe Oliver won the game with a hit of Eck done the 3rd base line.
The place went nuts it was awesome. The Reds went on the sweep the series, I was a junior in H.S. at the time. It seems like yesterday when I think back on it now.

          10/6/05 - Braves @ Phillies, NLCS Game 1.

Schilling comes out pumped full of adrenaline and strikes out the first five batters he faces. Fans on their feet, cheering wildly for every 2-strike count. Phillies SS Kim Batiste makes a costly 9th inning error that allows the Braves to tie the game 3-3. In the bottom of the 10th inning, game still tied, the very same Kim Batiste smashes a double down the LF line, past a diving Terry Pendleton to plate John Kruk with the winning run. Phils win 4-3.

Another exciting game was the Phils-Yankees interleague game on 9/1/97 when Schilling struck out 16 Yankees in 8 innings. I had seats close to field level between home and first, and Schill was clearly pretty damn pumped about pitching against the Yankees. His fastball was popping all game long and he was still reaching back in the 7th and 8th innings for max velocity. Totally impressive.

              I have 2:

Mets vs. Yankees @ Yankee Stadium 1997

This was the first year of interleague play in MLB and the stadium was just rocking that day. All you heard were "Let's go Yankees" chants which were then followed by "Let's Go Mets". Game went tied 2-2 into the 10th inning when there were guys on 1st and 2nd and then Tino Martinez lined a single into the gap and O'Neil came around to score the winning run.

Red Sox vs. Yankees 2004 ALCS Game 1

First game between the Yanks and Sox since Pedro's "I have to call the Yankees my daddy." Schilling was pitching that game and he was getting rocked leading to "Who's your Daddy?!" chants. Mussina was pitching a great game until the 7th when he gave up a few hits then the Yankees took him out. Bullpen almost gave up the lead and I think the Red Sox cut the lead down to 10-9 when Rivera came in and shut the door.

Co-sign, except the junior in HS thing. I was in 8th grade. I sat about 15 rows up in the red seats upper reserve right in line with the left-field foul-pole. It was great seeing a World Series in Cincy. Hopefully it will happen again soon.

Haven't been to many, but my favorite was an Orioles-Red Sox game at OPACY in 2005. It was the game right before the All-Star break, and a win got us back to only 2 games out. I think it was Trot Nixon that hit a homer to right to give Boston the lead. Then Palmeiro came back and hit a solo homer to the flag court which was his 2,998th hit. Jay Gibbons hit a home run later in the game, and B.J. Ryan struck out Manny to end it. David Ortiz even stole a base.

The game would have been better if the bandwagon Red Sox fans (which now take up almost all of their fan base) didn't take the stadium over, but at least we got the win.

I got free tickets to Game 5 of the 2004 ALCS vs. the Yankees on the morning of the game. It started late in the afternoon, I think 5 PM or something. The game didn't finish until 11 PM; it was the 14 inning game which at the time was the longest playoff game ever (maybe it still is).

Pretty insane game, as it featured dozens of shifts with respect to peaks and valleys. It ended on the David Ortiz bloop single to CF off Esteban Loaiza, allowing Johnny Damon to score the winning run.

                              1. June 30th, 1999 - Arizona Diamondbacks at Cincinnati Reds

It was Ron Villone vs Randy Johnson. Excellent pitchers duel. Randy Johnson threw 17 strikeouts, despite allowing 2 ERs. Ron Villone went 8 innings, striking out 7 and only allowing 1 hit. Scott Williamson came in for him in the 9th and went 1,2,3.

                              2. June 24th, 2006 - Philadelphia Phillies at Boston Red Sox.

Papi walk off 2 run homer in the 10th. As much as it pains me, it was one of the coolest things to witness. Amazing thing was, I had my camera out and I turned it on right before that pitch....here's the video.
