Probably May 6, 2000 at Fenway Park. It was the Devil Rays Steve Trachsel against Pedro. Both pitchers went the distance with Pedro striking out 17 while Trach had 11. The Red Sox lost 1-0 and I can still remember Greg Vaughn singling up the middle in the top of the 8th to drive home the only run (this was after he had K's his previous 3 plate appearances). It was just a truly great pitching performance on both sides and you don't see complete games by both pitchers very often anymore.

      '05 WS - Game 2

      Konerko Slam - Podsednik Walk-off

The most electric I have ever seen the crowd at Comiskey (what it will always be to me). When Konerko hit the slam, the place was up for grabs.

        #1 - 1988 World Series Game 1

Dave Anderson is in the on-deck circle when Mike Davis reaches base. From my vantage point, I could see Gibson limping through the dugout and up onto the steps. Anderson gets called back and Gibson appears from the dugout - the crowd errupts! He looks pathetic with his swings, but everyone in the stadium is hoping for the miracle and then it happens. Absolutely amazing. I still have my tix stubs and a pic of Gibson hitting the bomb in a picture frame.

#2 - Dodgers vs Giants Nomo's first home start (I think). He struck out 13 in what looked like an effortless outting.

Summer of '99: the Dodgers played against the Mariners, when they still had Griffey Jr., A-Rod, and Martinez.

The Dodgers won in a rout, but I still remember Griffey's towering blast, watching his compact swing and its sheer power as the ball was absoutely hammered and seemed to continue in the sky indefinitely. The image is always burned into my head.

Summer of '06: Dodgers vs. Giants, one of baseball's most storied rivalries (game was on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball).

The fans were hilarious, as I was sitting down the third base line and the fans were heckling Bonds. As for the game, it was the classic pitcher's duel, Maddux against Schmidt. Both pitchers stymied the opposition and the game was a scoreless tie that went into extra-innings. Then, Russell Martin hit a walk-off home-run in the bottom of the 10th.

Re: Ok.. best game seen live?

              I have got two.

The first was O's v. Tigers back in '98. Mike Mussina pitched a gem of a game, taking a perfect game 2 outs into the 8th inning. He had been saved a couple of times during the game by great defensive plays by Alomar and Brady (who robbed the Tigers of a homer in the top of the 1st inning). Moose lost the perfecto after Luis Gonzalez argued a called strike 3 and was subsequently tossed, as was the Tigers manager. The arguing and the ejections took about 5 minutes, taking Moose out of the zone (you could see him pacing around the mound during the fireworks). Mussina's first pitch to the Tigers next batter, Frank Cattalanotto, was ripped down the line for a double. It would be the only baserunner he allowed all game.

I just remember goose bumps as you realized what was going on, and what could possibly happen. It was my then girlfriend's (now wife) first ever baseball game. I remember several times during the game looking over at her and commenting on the significance of what was occurring. I then had to explain to her that not all games (especially not O's games) are that exciting.

My second best game occurred in '05, O's v. Yankees. It was the first time that I was able to see my most hated team play. The majority of the game was uneventful, other than the fact that the Orioles were able to tie the game in about the 5th or 6th inning and force extra innings. In the bottom of the 10th Brian Roberts hit a walk-off homerun that landed about three or four rows behind our seats. I have never seen a stadium explode like that at the crack of a bat. If I remember, Palmeiro also got his 2,991 hit that game. I now feel dirty for giving him a standing ovation after that hit.
Overall satisfaction also makes the decline!!!!!!!!!!!!

In July of 2004 Arizona was in Detroit and Pena hit a bases loaded grand slam to win the game 10-6 in the bottom of the 9th. Opening day of 2004 in Detroit when Higgy had a clutch game and the crowd was chanting his name in the 9th, prolly the last great moment of his in a Tiger uniform.

The other good game I've gone to was Clemens going for his 300th win in Detroit. I was actually rooting for him to get 300 but he got a no decision after 18 innings. Steve Sparks was the man, he had about 6 scoreless extra innings.

                  1) Barajas goes yard in the bottom of the 9th to beat the Yankees, then does a curtain-call a row in front of me.

                  2) I catch a Jose Lima fastball that was ****ing dumped on by Manny Ramirez, the 3rd longest homerun hit in Astrodome history.

                  3) Getting to see Gonzo's 400th homerun. Talk about goose bumps.

A number of Yankees called that the best pitching performance they ever saw, and most of the team had been involved in 2 perfect games. He was that dominant.

Wasn't Clemens the pitcher for the Yanks in that one?

                      No, Andy Pettitte was.

I think the next year, there was a great pitchers duel at Yankee Stadium, between Clemens and Pedro. Pedro pitched a shutout, and it was 0-0 into the 9th until Trot Nixon hit a 2 run homer. I remember that game got a lot of attention and was on ESPN Classic so you might be thinking of that.

You're exactly right, that game was on Classic last year leading up to Clemens' season debut with Houston.
